im gonna infodump but i dont wanna do it in that persons tags bc that blog is still alive and a complete stranger to both of us. while my cat is screaming at and attacking me lets see how fast i can type this
my thing with dma2 is it was not only unfinished but it also had some issues like what dma1 had where it was still kind of directionless. i knew what themes i wanted but i wasn't organized enough to actually communicate a lot of it. despite the fact all the real info you have on dma isnt really that good bc of my problem, you're actually right about this in a way i wasn't thinking about
as a general thing, dma is at its core almost exclusively about the fact the world is falling apart from people giving up, and that it can really only be saved by spreading persistent kindness. everything that happened in dma2 was ongoing, same for further iterations of it, and that's primarily because i was trying to push every character to their limits. ideally even break them, which maybe wasn't good for the roleplay context of dma2 but it was still working. the seers and all the other guys were killed if they were found out but they were still everywhere. the reason they were in the town was because of the temple, but the reason the town was safe at all was because it wasn't hit. i think that was something i wanted people to pick up on, that the town isn't inherently safe, it's just by chance that it still is, mainly because i couldn't *actually* change that due to some later plot reasons that never happened.
the whole cause of the story is that there's people who found themselves feeling that the world (which they are promised is fair) has bad judgement. they want it to change, they want to decide what's fair, and because they have this frustration they form unity with each other. in the veryyy far past they succeeded so many times in so many different worlds that some weird kind of figurative stuff happens and the consequences of that success is that virtually every main dma world is poisoned by it. the people doing it don't know that, but because they're working with what is effectively the poison itself, they become increasingly angry and increasingly dangerous. bands of them travel in groups and pillage just to keep harming others, because then those people become angry and vulnerable and get roped into joining without realizing it. they're told that there's, conveniently, community for them that will give them more safety against the people who harmed them, but they're the same communities and it only intends to pull them in to continue perpetuating it
the role of the protagonist characters is to try and restore the foundations that keep the world itself from dying. they have to go through the same process, witness the same process happen to others, as everyone else in that cycle does. and they have to make it out and keep going. they have to keep helping and trying instead of hurting others, even when they're at a point where they start wanting to and their morals fail. and i am actually a bit surprised anyone picked up on it because dma2 was not fleshed out for a very long time, but there's more to it that i want you to know about the story now too. im not particularly bothered by the idea of sharing dma stuff because it's not ongoing anymore so there's no risk of spoiling it. this is also the main context behind all the "is your soul pure" stuff btw aside from the fact it was mad funny to put it everywhere.
not completely polished story or worldbuilding but its much more cohesive i think. maybe this is a bit easier to pull info from than the weird cryptic stuff i kept tryna pull in the writing itself idk ive been typing too long to even know if this ask is going to the right person still 🙏 rly hope it is😭
i think you got the point across that the danger was still ongoing rather than THAT far in the past by the fact that in some of the places the characters got actually hurt by going there. writing was peak tysm for sharing
also im pinging yall cause you were in the server too @nokti-jpeg @sparkingcircuits
