Collective amnesia is like one of my biggest fears2 cuz of history and stuff like taking accounts through history is so important and i do genuinly believe that that's why stories are needed in society because writing as a practice dates back2 so long ago i think people need chatacters2 survive and they don't even know it ( religon2 some extent )
did u know abt Anthropologist Edmund Leach? He wrote that societies actively alter their histories to fit their current social goals and that's called selective forgetting and so in a way everything can just find one tie into a sort narrative that we may or may not be aware of that we're contributing to create which is why i wish2 record as much as i can. I think u guys have heard abt lascaux cave paintings in spain that r like 17000 years old but those are also kind of an amazing exploration of a kind of narrative structure because they tell stories of migration, hunt, and survivalin a way those cave paintings will forever tie into our REAL LIFE sequential narrative because it's evidence as to who was there before and that's SO fascinating2 me?? Like researchers find that our brain discards what is of no use2 us and also is a way of the brain protecting us from stress ( selective forgetting/ disassociative anesthesia? ) collective amnesia can also be a method of government control like in book 1984 like how some governments irl control the flow of information ( burma )
