To all the therian haters, how is therianthropy different to any other belief? Other religions and cultures have weird traditions, and no one judges them. It's because we accept that everyone is different and some people have different beliefs. I'm not a therian myself but I support, because as weird as the whole things sounds, and as easy as it is to say they're all lying. Sometimes you just have to believe and support people regardless of you believe it yourself. If you aren't one you will never truly understand what it's like. And anyway there are over 100k therians, they can't all be faking. Are you telling me there's a secret cult of 100k people who made up therianthropy and gaslight everyone into thinking therians are real? So immature 🙄

And to the therians, keep going, there will always be someone to support you, even if you don't know them yet. You are not faking, this is who you are and don't ever forget that🐺❤️

Therianthropy is not inherently a religious or even spiritual belief. At its core, it is about being a nonhuman animal on some level. The origin theories individual therians provide for their therianthropy can vary wildly from person to person.

Based on the behavior of these “haters”, as well as of the recent bills targeting us in various US states, I am of the opinion that where the hatred toward therians, otherkin, and other nonhumans and alterhumans comes from depends on what the person believes about us.

When it includes a belief that we are a religion or comparable to one, it stems from racism. Particularly, it stems from the belief that monotheistic religions, particularly the Abrahamic religions, are more “correct” or more “civilized” compared with cultures and religions that include features such as animism and shamanism. Page Shepard, a canine and religious scholar, hosted a panel about this.

When this hatred makes reference to furries or to transgender people, it stems mainly from transphobia and homophobia. This is the camp that the “litter boxes in schools” hoax, as well as all those transphobic bills, are in.

“Haters” may also call us “crazy,” “insane,” “delusional,” or some other such word. When these words are employed, the hatred stems from ableism and saneism. People who use these words as insults believe that insane and delusional are inherently bad things to be, and often are wildly unaware of what a delusion really is. They might call any belief or claim they do not like, a “delusion.”
