Hey guys I wanted to have a real talk with you. These are just some dos and donts of cosplay that I have being teaching myself over the last 3 years of my life in this culture. This is the Leona shield I was knocking out for wondercon a while ago and as you can see it’s not quite complete and it’s also pretty trashed. Before I attempted to paint the shield it looked beautiful but I was just kinda on the fence if I wanted to wear the cosplay for wondercon, since I was just going to ghost the con, our personal photographer/large transportation vehicle(since we were commuting) had to cancel on some very important business and the cons actual hours are very short. Oh also it was going to be fairly warm(and it was during the con). Well my roommate had a pretty awesome idea just to go as summoners with one of their favorite characters’ weapons and to do health bars with our summoner names/blog info on them. She got the idea from this awesome steel legion Garen and the season 3 world championship animate short featuring the top LCS players. Excited about it I decided to try to complete the shield by sealing/painting it. Now I like to try new methods on almost every costume I make for myself to test them for future commissions and projects and to see if I can find a good mixture for the best results. The issue is that I went didn’t have enough sealer at the time but I thought I could do it with what it had. The result was the shield in it’s current state. Now I knew better then to just try to spray paint foam board without the proper amount of sealing but I did it anyways in my excitement and now I’m going to have to resurface the entire thing. So the lesson is don’t let your excitement always get the better of you because you might just end up in a spot similar to my own with this shield. More importantly don’t let mistakes bring you down too much, things like this happen from time to time and just take it as a learning experience to better yourself for the days to come. Keep up the great work cosplayers and most importantly have a blast doing it!!!!!
