I ran into one of Bill’s traps and it startled me so much that I accidentally pressed photomode at the most perfect moment (save for the fact that Joel is exploding and died as soon as I exited)

Uhm, for one, I never got the ‘you can’t place business into the hands of a woman!!!’ at all.
What’s more is, THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT MAKES HER SO STRONG A CHARACTER. Shes allowed to be brash, slovenly, immature, rude, and literally everything that makes Cameron, Cameron - and it’s AMAZING for that. She isn’t knocked down that much for being who she is, she’s just HER. We never see a character like her, hell, it’s even rare for male characters, but it is literally unheard of for a female character to be like Cameron, and THAT is why she’s a strong female character.
Not all female characters have to be “Strong Female Characters”™ to be good characters. Cameron is real. She has flaws. She messesup and learns as she goes along. She’s smart but also still has a lot of maturing and growing up to do. She has feelings and they influence her decisions sometimes. Sometimes her decisions aren’t the best, but it’s important to her that they are hers. And it’s not like Cameron is weak. Someone doesn’t have to be perfect to be strong. I feel like this is a damaging viewpoint to spread. It implies that only female characters who are perfect and have their shit together are worthwhile. Cameron isn’t perfect and can even be an impulsive idiot sometimes, but that doesn’t make her weak or not strong.
Wow, I’m having more feelings over this than I realized. Maybe it’s because I’m not perfect. I screw up sometimes and let my emotions lead me, too. I make stupid decisions sometimes. But that doesn’t mean I’m not strong or not admirable. I learn from my mistakes and grow as I go. Cameron exemplifies all this. I wasn’t sure I liked her during parts of season one, but since she started Mutiny she’s grown on me. And I’ve always liked her take-no-crap attitude, even if it can be a bit misplaced sometimes. I feel like how she handled seeing Joe again in the most recent episode exemplifies how she’s grown. I was worried she would throw Joe under the bus when Sara’s father asked her to vouch for him, but she didn’t. She gave a perfect double-entendre with, “He’s a hell of a guy.” I feel like she handled meeting Sara gracefully. She was obviously very shaken and upset, but she kept it together until she was back at Mutiny. She didn’t lay into Sara like season one Cameron might have because she’s grown since then and she knows Sara didn’t do anything to wrong her personally.
I really disagreed with Cameron’s being against Donna’s Community idea, but I feel like that was driven by a defensiveness Cameron has about proving herself and creating something that is hers. Donna even addresses this when she asks Cameron pointedly if she’s against Community because she doesn’t like it or because it wasn’t her own idea. When Cameron doesn’t respond back, it’s clear that Donna finally reached her over the course of that episode.
This isn’t about Cameron being an unfit woman to run a company, this is about Cameron being young, passionate, and having a lot of emotional baggage. Just because she isn’t perfect now and still has growing to do doesn’t mean she doesn’t have the potential to be and create something great.
Also: Cameron is younger than 25 (I think she’s 23ish?) She’s a college dropout who was encouraged to leave school by an older, manipulative man, and while the final decision was hers, she’s still pretty naive about things (though growing less so). Basically every male figure in her life has either manipulated or abandoned her, from Joe to her combat-casualty father to her mother’s boyfriends to Yoyo (which is why Bos/Cam and Cam/Tom make me so happy). She’s expected to hold her own against Joe and Gordon, both of whom have been in the tech industry for 10+ years, as well as every other male investor, etc, she comes up against. She’s been homeless. She’s got issues with anxiety and might be on the autism spectrum. She broke free of a manipulative relationship to start her own company. And yet she keeps fighting, she keeps kicking, because she believes her ideas are worth being heard.
If that isn’t a ‘strong female character’, I don’t know what is.
From an actual feminist point of view, this "feminist" confession is garbage. "Proves a meninist point" are you fucking kidding me?? Reblogging for the great commentary.
me on a date: so, which ending did you choose in GTA V?

So I got an email from Rockstar asking if I’d used my account in another country recently. I said no and they had me change my password. I log into my GTA Online as usual and came to the realisation that someone hacked my account and signed me up to the “I Love Mel Gibson” crew.
I ain’t even mad.
