Chella Man Is the First Deaf Transgender Model to Sign to IMG

Chella Man has been inspiring us since he launched his YouTube channel back in May 2017. There, he started sharing his struggles with gender dysphoria and later, he went on to share his transition journey with Them. Now with almost 200K subscribers and over 2M views in just a single year, Chella is one of this generation’s leading voices on inclusivity and representation.

Existing within the intersection of being Chinese, deaf, genderqueer, and Jewish, Chella has shown us all that identity is complex and that complexity is beautiful. He’s also using his platform to mobilize young voters and to speak out against the current administration in the U.S. and their abusive policies and rhetoric.

And that isn’t all, as Chella is currently in school: studying virtual reality programming. He’s truly a multi-hyphenate creative, working across art, fashion, technology, and a new role that we’re excited to report. His transparency and bravery caught the eye of megabrand IMG, who has just signed Chella as one of their newest faces.

“We’re so excited to officially announce that Chella will be joining the IMG Family,” Senior Vice President at IMG Models, David Cunningham told Teen Vogue. “His ongoing efforts to promote change, specifically around diversity and inclusion in the fashion space, is truly inspiring and completely aligned with our missions here at IMG.”
