Pamela wasn’t one to be easily startled, usually, but since having to go on the run she had been jumpier lately. Even when she knew the hunt for her was not as fierce in Star City, she was wary of any noise that could proceed an attack attempt. Flying around at the ready, it took her a moment to realise just who was barrelling out of the club as she passed by - keeping an eye on the place for Oliver, though she’d never tell him that - considering the girl had grown up quite a bit since Pamela last saw her. “You nearly gave me a heart attack there, little Queen.” She huffed, pressing a hand to her chest as if to calm it. She cocked her head slightly as she studied Thea - face flushed and taking in the cool night air with heavier breaths than was normal for someone in fine health and calm. “You okay?”
Just breathing had never been this much of a challenge to Thea, but with the way things had been going lately, it was quite the struggle now. The brunette didn’t want to head back inside, she needed a break from everything and everyone or she’d go crazy and she’d be no good at Verdant. Speedy barely even heard Pamela’s voice when she spoke up the first time, too engrossed in her own train of thoughts. Only when asked if she was okay did she notice the other woman, shifting her attention and looking towards the redhead. “Yeah... I just have a lot going on, you know?” the brunette admitted, straightening herself out now and telling herself to get it together. “Long time no see, Pamela. How’ve you been?”

“Thank you, my parents made plenty of mistakes, but picking that name for me, was not one of them,” he actually really liked his name, having to hide it was one of the things that he hated the most. He supposed that Mike was pretty close to his real name, but it was still not the same. It was nothing to do with him not liking the name that Kara had given to him when he first got there, a way to keep his real identity in secret, he liked it, it was a good name, but it wasn’t who he was, “That’s actually not a bad idea,” he had a lot of teammates, people he knew that he could trust and could always count on, but why would he be against having one more?
”Are you guys close? You and your parents?” Thea couldn’t help but ask, wanting to get to know more about Mon El. She hadn’t known him that long, but she did wish to get to know him better. After all, he’d come to her aid multiple times by now, so maybe he was really her guardian angel or something - definitely someone she wanted to have in her life since she viewed him as a good influence. Thea needed that, people who kept her grounded and brought her back down to earth whenever she was about to do something reckless or impulsive. “Cool. So whenever we’re out there and we need a little assistance, we can just signal each other and kick ass together.” Speedy commented with a grin floating across her lips. “I’d need your number for that though, assuming you have a cell phone?”

Nyssa struggled for longer than she cared to admit to recall the feeling - happiness, true happiness, without the shadow of her regrets or her vengeance overhanging it all. There had been moments since she came to Star City - glimpses of a life she might have when she finally lay down her sword, if she ever did. People who might one day be truly considered friends if she ever let herself feel close enough to someone to call them that, and mean it. But she wasn’t sure how true any of it was - how much she was just deluding herself in a poor attempt at self-soothing. “Why do you care?” She asked, instead of answering. Though the question was genuine, almost aching. “After everything, why?”
”Because! I--” Thea began, her tone of voice louder now and nearly sounding like she was frustrated that Nyssa didn’t know the answer to her own question. “Because I believe you’re worth saving, okay? Despite other people making you think otherwise, like your father. You’re not a lost cause and you’re worth caring about.” she hadn’t actually meant to say these things, but for once, Thea wanted to let her heart speak rather than just her mind. When she’d been away with Malcolm, she’d only let her mind guide her and not her heart because he was the one who had taught her that. He thought emotions were a weakness and something that could be used against you. But Thea had learned now that that wasn’t true. Being a caring person didn’t make you weak, it just made you someone who tried to make this dark world a better place. “Go ahead. Scold, make fun of or just push me away like you always do. You know you want to.”

“I’d appreciate that. I think Rory could use the break from checking in on them.” Roy muttered, shooting her a grateful smile at the offer. “Not yet.” He admitted. “I don’t know what details to leave in and what to leave out. They’re going to ask questions and I don’t want to lie to them. But I don’t want to scare them either.”
“I know.” she mumbled quietly when he answered her question. It was never easy to have talks with children because they were so little and didn’t understand most of the world yet. And Thea comprehended the fact that Roy didn’t know what exactly to say to his twins because as their father, he wanted to be honest, but he also didn’t want that honesty to drive them away. “But you’re a good father, Roy. You’ll do the right thing.” she promised, not just saying that to make him feel better though, she actually firmly believed in Roy’s abilities to be a good parent. He was a good person, friend and boyfriend by default, so in her eyes, he’d naturally be a good father too. ”I’ll go relieve Rory.” Thea mused, not sure how she felt about leaving Roy all by himself here, but she knew that crowding him also wasn’t a good idea. That also went for prying too much about what had happened prior to Roy ending up in the hospital - Thea wanted him to open up about it when or if he felt ready. “Call or text me if you need anything, alright?”

Since she already knew that he wasn’t a human, he could probably tell her what his real name was, right? He already started, he may as well tell her the whole thing, “My name is Mon-El, actually, just don’t use it when I’m out of my suit and in public,” he was fine with telling her, but the same couldn’t be said about everyone else. He preferred to keep his identity in secret, which was why he had the device on his suit, “What the hell? I can’t believe you took advantage of my naiveness like that,” he let out a small laugh, he thought that after being so long on Earth, he wouldn’t be able to be fooled anymore, he supposed that he was wrong, “I mean, maybe it’s not a bad idea, or I could just make the group I’m sort of at official, and ask them if you could join.”
”Mon El.” Thea breathed softly, a gentle smile blooming onto her lips as she spoke his real name. “I like that name, it suits you.” she affirmed with a nod of her head. There had to be some trust from his side if he’d made the decision to reveal his real identity to her and even his actual name. But that feeling was entirely mutual since Thea felt very comfortable and at ease around him, knowing that she could trust the man who stood before her. “We could just be a team together, outside of the ones we’re already on.” Speedy suggested, not sure if he’d be up for it, but it would be nice to have some backup out there if everyone on team Arrow was unavailable. And it never hurt to have an extra teammate on the side.

Roy gave her a hesitant smile at her assurance - he had never really considered himself to be a huge part of Thea’s journey. He always saw her strengths, figured she would get by just fine whether he was there or not. It was comforting in a way to know she saw their time together as helping her too - in a way they had grown together, made each other stronger. Even if his feelings faded with time, that would always secure Thea a place in his heart. “In a few days, hopefully. I just want to make sure my kids are okay, but… I don’t want them seeing me all beat up like this. Explaining everything’s going to be hard enough on them.”
”I can check on the twins if you want me to.” Thea promised gently. She knew how much his children meant to him and that made them important to her as well. If Roy wanted to ensure their safety while he was in the hospital, she’d try to help out in whatever way she could. “Or if you want me to stay here with you for a little while and keep you company, I can ask Ollie or Felicity to take care of them instead.” she offered, though a curious gaze soon followed as her green eyes started to observe him. He’d probably been to hell and back and it never stopped amazing her just how strong Roy was about every single setback he had to endure in his life - she really admired him for that. “Do you know what you’re planning on telling them about what happened? Do you want to talk about it?”
daughterofdemons:
“What makes you so sure it has not already?” Nyssa noted. That emptiness had almost been comforting, when she was younger. To feel nothing as she took a life, or as she received the news of a fellow assassin - someone she had eaten with, sparred with, on rare occasions laughed with - being unsuccessful in their mission, dead and never to return to Nanda Parbat. Being numb to everything had been preferable to feeling it the way someone else might. It wasn’t her fault that Sara had come into her life and become the first ray of hope to break through it. It wasn’t her fault that everyone else kept insisting on creating further cracks in the darkness she had learned to armour herself. “Because I know what to do with my hatred!” She snapped finally at Thea’s question, her voice cracking slightly as she raised her voice, a burst of emotion that was so rare from her. “I know how to use it, to hone it, to feel it, I-” I don’t know what to do with happiness if I find it. She cut herself off abruptly before she could finish voicing the thought and allow Thea that leverage.
”Because you’re still here and you’re still fighting. And whether you want to admit it or not, you still care.” she pointed out, this close to telling Nyssa that she still cared about Thea, but the woman would most likely just deny it anyway. And while their relationship wasn’t perfect and there were many bumps in the road, Thea herself did actually care about Nyssa. If she didn’t, she wouldn’t be here to tell her all of these things and she wouldn’t have stuck around to try and protect her from herself. Speedy could have simply walked away when Malcolm did, but she was still standing in front of Nyssa, her presence and refusal to abandon the other proof that she indeed wanted to save her. Emerald eyes blinked in slight surprise as another comment was barked out, the words catching Thea off guard somewhat, but she kept her stance and let out a small breath next. “The fact that you have hatred at all just proves that you’re unhappy. When’s the last time you felt truly happy, Nyssa? Do you even remember? Are you living or just existing?”
