Ziad Nakad Haute Couture FW 17-18
Luminary Sculptures by Eugene Wilson
Shona had been keeping to herself for most of the festivities so far, it had been kind of boring to watch everyone in neon & glitter dance to pop songs she vaguely knew. She contemplated acting on her impulses to steal from party-goers.. but for once it felt morally wrong to try and ruin someone's day like that. Maybe she was getting soft.
Holding a plastic cup of whatever shit the vendors were selling this year, Shona nodded while tilting her drink in the air at the woman next to her. Shona peered down through her sunglasses and gave out a laugh. "Yeah, what do I get in return for my kindness? Ghosted?"
Winifred laughed back at the young woman dressed in black. βWhat do you get? What do you get? Honey,β Winnie shook her head and continued to chuckle, βyou get to have helped the one and only Winifred Sanderson. What more could you want?β
Pausing for a moment, Winnie examined the woman more closely. She seemed guarded and aloof, like so many insecure young people Winifred had met, but there was something else about her. Something specialβ¦maybe even witchy? There was only one way to find out. βIf you really want something in return,β she smirked, βletβs say I have a few ways to make it worth your while. And get your mind out of the gutter, because thatβs not what I mean. β She got closer to the woman, just close enough for a twinge of discomfort. βThink bigger than that. Way biggerβ¦β
It was sad. Maude found the whole spectacle pathetic. She supposed she shouldn't expect anything more from this little town and the pea-brained spineless mayor that was their poster boy, but somehow they still managed to disappoint her. Was this really the best they could do? Her eyes moved from someone dressed in bright yellow and pink hues, an outfit that looked like it had been thrown together in all of ten seconds, to the approaching redhead when she spoke. "Only because you don't look like flaming garbage," she remarked, pulling a five dollar bill from her wallet in preparation. Holding it between her thumb and forefinger, she gave Winnie a tired look. "Tell me, dear. Are you truly enjoying this?"
βHey, whatβs wrong with flaming garbage?β Winnie chuckled tipsily. βSome of my best friends are flaming garbage!β
Winifred rolled her eyes at this clearly-uptight woman. βLoosen up, lady. Itβs Pride! The biggest, gayest party of the year! Shit, youβre barely wearing any colors of the rainbow. Come on! What do you have against it?β Winifred wasnβt sure how far she was going to get with this uppity lady, but even more than she hated children, she hated party poopers. If she could change her mind, Winnie wouldnβt have to hate this woman.

location: evermore pride festival
The Evermore Pride Festival was in full swing, and Winnie was right smack in the middle of it. Dancing to a song she semi-recognized as being by Dua Lipa and with a rainbow-hued drink in her hand, she was having just about the most fun she could have without magic. She had come with Sarah and Mary, though she'd lost track of them a while ago. They were probably having fun, too. She'd catch up with them later.
Swaying to the beat, Winnie wove her way out of the crowd and made it off to the side, where she downed the last of her drink. She noticed a friendly but not entirely familiar face next to her. "Happy Pride," she winked at them. Gesturing to her empty cup, she added, "Don't be so shy. Buy a girl another drink, will ya?"
