Elie Saab Fall/Winter 2026 Couture
not to have been making the same post forever but if it were me and i were in charge of comms for the phantom of the opera west end i might be considering giving some indication of who is scheduled on for two out of three lead roles in a fortnight x
speaking of montreuil-sur-mer here’s the bit from the runaway cart that’s making me feel insane rn. don’t share etc
okay but if the Montreuil-sur-mer situationship is real above all else it means that Valjean is fucking insane. Like. Joker if he was nice. Like it’s plausible but this is maybe the most unhinged thing anyone in the entire cast of characters has ever done.
a deeply underrated part of the gay valjean conspiracy theory is that if they're right and he really has spent over a decade changing his identity to fuck the guy who abetted his torture in prison and now works for him and is sending him subliminal messages based on minute details to decode his true identity then he's uuuuuh. i mean he's insane. he's jigsaw. he's the riddler. the bishop bought his soul for god because if he didn't have redemption to distract him he would've started building deathtraps.
Just for your information, i smell so good
oh this was so gorgeous and i wept horribly and i love the theatre!!!
augh not to do earnest theatre blogging but i cannot stop thinking about this one
such a lovely version by laura wade, totally respecting the structural perfection and unity of the russian text which means you are willing to trust its interventions (i loved what it did with the passer-by!)
an almost perfect ensemble which is only going to get stronger
the live music was so beautiful, and the way it was used in act three i especially found so moving - the fluent sequence of waltzes through the space and then the sense of music coming from another room
gorgeous lighting design (aideen i owe you my life, again), gorgeous understated set, gorgeous costumes, where are my production photos
i am essentially a kenneth branagh agnostic but he was tbf so wonderful and did something very near to the end that made the whole theatre do a sort of single collective pained intake of breath. magical!
chumisa a star as always, i'd been curious about her in a straight play but she can sooooo do it and i found her anya deeply moving ... put her in the seagull next i guess
very seriously thought i wasn't going to cry on account of knowing what happens in the cherry orchard lol but it did completely organically creep up on and Get Me and i spent the last few minutes just weeping freely and worried i was going to make some kind of horrible involuntary noise <3

First look at Chumisa!

Acrylic on canvas board , 6 x 6 in. 15 x 15 cm.
images taken moments before disaster (thought so hard about the horrors i have witnessed that i went four stops too far on the tube home)
oh sure. fine. happy pride to me i guess
not the absurdly cheap preview pricing for the transfer just when i was resolved to be strong about the whole thing
