write in poetic prose???

that’s cool, your writing is gonna sound so pretty!! Just make sure you fully understand every word you’re using, aren’t confusing your audience, copying off anyone’s style, don’t use certain adjectives at incorrect times, and you don’t need to get the dictionary back out to know what you’ve said!!

that’s cool too, people will understand the message you’re trying to convey in your writing easily!! Just make sure you still use good imagery, show as much as you tell, make sure your word choice doesn’t sound redundant, and don’t be afraid of your friendly internet thesaurus when it does!!

all this stuff, friends, is exactly what writing educators are supposed to tell all young writers (which most roleplayers are) to do while learning how to write and practicing their own style. Those who write problematic poetic (often called purple) prose are showing too much and telling too little, and those who need more vivid imagery in their writing are telling too much and showing too little. 

but however you choose to write, roleplayers

just make sure it’s your own

own your own style and don’t let anyone make you think your style is too ornate or not good enough
