Quick update
Someone I talked to earlier today said they could help me make sense of the files, so I’m going to meet them tomorrow and bring the notes and audio samples! I’ll post again once I’m back home and have gone through it.

Quick update

Another interesting find. Looks like studio notes. "Blinding lites" and "Ophelia's Fate". Also some audio file with people (Crimson Clovers?) talking.
Also also, found a higher res of the "album cover" with both front and back sides. I've updated the mega-link.
Jackpot!
Damn, I found something alright. A folder loaded with tracks!! Most of them are in rough shape like the other stuff but this is more of the same as before; soul covers.
I recognize almost all of them. I'm no pop aficionado but I recognize me some Weeknd, Taylor Swift, maybe Ariana Grande and even that damn Demon Hunters track. But I guess this must be the legendary "The Crimson Clovers" then. A lost soul band from the 90's?? lol. Anyway, I zipped the whole thing and uploaded it so you can listen for yourselves:
Going to keep listening through everything tonight.
Digdugging away. Found another file of interest. This one is an image, or a potato, hard to tell.
Even so, it says “The Crimson Clovers” and something-something "from tomorrow". Book or album cover perhaps. Couldn't find anything online though.
There is also some kind of shape on the right that could be anything, like something I don't want to go into.
Posting it here in case someone recognizes the name or the design.
I kept going through the archive today, expecting more of those corrupted, pitch-shifted fragments. Most of it was still noise… but I found one file that was almost intact.
It sounds like a full 70s soul arrangement of Man I Need. Like as if someone tracked an entire cover session decades ago and then stuffed it into this abandoned mirror drive.
I clipped out a short part. Going to keep digging,if there’s one almost-complete track, there might be more.
TL;DR: New cleanup pass, clearly hearing Man I Need in there, but that track is from 2025, so… wtf? Ok so… Update-time because this just got weirder.
Ran another cleanup pass on that file tonight. More of the voice-y stuff came through this time (check around 0:26, a bit clearer).
Played it to my girlfriend again and she IMMEDIATELY went: “isn’t that Man I Need?”
And yeah, that’s exactly what it sounds like actually. So I figured ok, maybe it’s some older version, since the directory this file was sitting in hasn’t been touched since the 90s.
BUT THEN
I googled the song just to check… and uhhh… it’s from 2025
Like, brand new. As in: just released.
So now I’m sitting here confused as hell because this file absolutely should NOT contain anything even remotely current. Either someone put a modern track inside a bunch of old archive junk for… reasons?? or someone wrote Man i Need waaay back.
I’m way too tired to be doing this lol
Anyway, here’s the cleaned version. If you hear something different (or if I’m just losing my mind), pls let me know.
So first off, the exciting stuff: I work as a storage engineer. Nothing glamorous, mostly old mirrored drives and archival machines and whatnot that nobody has touched in decades. Earlier this week I was reviewing one of these old mirrors. There I found an audio file that didn’t make much sense. Not sure I'm allowed to share it but as long as I don't shout my name out loud here it should be fine (famous last words). It's a sound file, that's basically just low-pitch noise… But I hear something that sounds like voices in there as well. Low-pitched and slowed down. So out of curiosity I've pitched it up bit and increased the speed, just to see if there is anything there. To me, it sounds like a fragment of a song. There’s a faint melody in there, but I can’t place it. I've played it to a few people but no one has recognised it, so maybe I’m just hearing stuff (well, I AM but you catch the drift). Still… I can't stop thinking about it so I'm putting it here on the interwebs for y'all to see (hear). If anyone hears anything, please let me know.
