Ugh all this trump crap is just SO embarrassing and it's making me feel like I can't do anything in this country like in the next year tbh. I mean I'm not Muslim or black or Mexican but it's just like the whole world is talking about race and religion equality and all I can think about now is that I'm not white tbh. And honestly I've NEVER quite thought of my ethnicity as a reason for people to define me. I never do! But in the past month or so, I'm slightly more self conscious about it because there are a lot of people in the US who, probably off the bat, view me with skepticism and judgement because I look foreign. Sounds bad, but I kind of liked when I was naive and didn't feel like my physical properties were being thrown at my face constantly because of trump's policies. When I didn't feel like I'm some victim that people are fighting for all over the US with protests and outrage. I've never at all been interested-- but I even figured living in India would be better at this point because I mean it’s at least somewhere I would not be judged by my ethnicity tbh... But I also know that I would be basically running away from the problems in America that I should fight for. Like I am fully American, and living in America is a no-brainer for me seeing as I've lived here all my life, but it's really just made me uneasy and come to develop a lack of confidence when people constantly have to fight for racial/religious/etc equality still. I don't want people to have to do that! It's ridiculous (but it's awesome that we are fighting for our rights).
Like Trump being in power just shows that half of Americans are still pretty stuck up, for lack of a better word, and narrow-minded, and it’s a scary thought and just makes me feel bad for people that are worse off and treated like second-hand people because of where they’re from. Like it just goes to show how people are and it’s been more eye-opening for me than anything.
I feel like all I do now when I'm out in public, is look at random people, like people I work with or just random people on the street, and wonder who they voted for and what they feel about my ethnicity/race/religion/etc. I've become more uneasy of people because of it, and I hate that because I dont try to see myself for my ethnicity, but this presidency is making it hard not to really!
(also just by observation: I pretty much know that 90% of the people I work with support trump because they're all well-off, never complain about him, and are all low-key racist. And I just dont generally like anyone there which tells me that they aren't genuinely nice people...because if I like someone, usually they are nice? So i’m convinced they all dont care to be friends with me because I’m Indian which is, well, awkward. However, them not talking to me much could just be a personal issue in that i’m an awkward person and don’t know how to function in society, um, but I digress. In addition, I don't think they've hired a single non-white person besides me since I've been there lol)
Ok well yeah that’s all for my rant. I just felt like I should express my frustration rn, since trump’s bigotry is literally all I see on the news and social media!! It’s given me a headache and I cant focus on much else.
Ahh I think this video is so romantic fsr lol i’ve watched it like 10 times. Ed is cute!
