Headcanon that rumi learned her weird creepy smile from celine. It wasn't intentional on celines part, she smiled at rumi all the time growing up. Real smiles, fake idol smiles for the masses, fond smiles when baby rumi did messy baby things.
But one night, when rumi was still too young to really understand things, but old enough to learn. Celine came back home after a hunt, a particularly bad one. No one died but demons, but there were so many of them and things go close. Celine needed to focus on slaying and let her guard down so a demon clawed her stomach up.
The honmoon and a mix of superhuman endurance and stubbornness she's fine, in no danger of dying. But if she doesn't close it soon it could leave a scar which isn't good for her solo career.
So at her home, celine is sewing up her wound when baby rumi stumbles upon her. Celine is scared, she doesn't want to expose rumi to this part of the world, not yet. So she does her best to give rumi a big smile so she isn't worried. It takes a lot of grimacing and eye twitches but she makes it through.
But somehow, out of all the smiles celine had given her baby, it's that pained fake smile that rumi latches onto and it becomes rumi's real, noncelebrity, smile
