These are fully custom size and optional to be crotchless or normal. Worked in motifs joined as you go so it can be simple granny squares or intricate motifs that take hours to complete 1 of them. I chose to use the king's lace motif found on the allfreecrochet site, but if i had more patience i might use Draiguna's sylvanweave squares which take at least 4 hours per square in my experience. It helps to have a pair of boxers that fit you on hand to compare as you go, and make these a little looser as the fabric doesnt really stretch. Instead of elastic, i opted for ties because sewing is a pain in the ass.
Working in size 10 crochet thread and a 1.75mm crochet hook, the stitches needed (american stitch notaion used) are chain (ch), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc), double crochet (dc) and treble crochet (tc). Depending on your motif's finished size, you may need more rows of them. Mine turned out to be about 3"x3" and my hips are 33" around, so I need 11 of them to go around. I will make sure the ends meet right at the center of the front of my pelvis. You will need to measure around each leg too for the cuffs. I will make 2 rows for the leg cuffs and will elect to simply make as many roas as needed to match an existing pair of boxers i own. For the waistband, i will do 1 row of sc in every loop of the motifs and ch 3 or ch 5 depending on the size of the gap. The next row will be all dc in every stitch. The one after that will be dc ch 2 skip 2 all the way around. This will be where the tie will be woven in. The last row will be dc in every stitch.
