But on an entirely different note, same 13 yo is writing her first fanfic. Hermoine/Draco. O. M. G.
Nothing like parenting a 13 year old girl for making you feel like an utter failure as a human being.
I got two precious hours of the house to myself tonight. :)
(Hi tumblr, long time to see. I am so happy to see that my dash does not have tons of politics or a billion Handmaid Tale gifs. because, seriously. Enough is enough. So thank you friends!)
I have been waiting all year to post this.
omg
This has been in my queue for months.
I missed it last year and I vowed that would NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN.
omg i didnt reblog this last year!
I just realised: THATS WILLIAM SHATNER!
Omfg ok I literally just came on Tumblr to find this to reblog and it was the first post that loaded on my dash that is weird af ok
I’ve cued this a year early. and I’m sort of excited to see it and then think WOAH LOOK WHERE I WAS A YEAR AGO.
This had 578,694 notes when I put it in my queue on April 25, 2014.
This had 1,102,493 notes when I put it back in my queue on April 25, 2015. (It had around 900,000 this morning, but I have been busy at soccer games all day.)
Year #3 coming up. This had 1,242,803 notes when I put it back in the queue on April 25, 2016. It’s slowing down! Bye bye post, see you in a year! :)
50K of words, 30 days.
20-30K to go to finish the first draft of the story. That is a whole lot of words.
Never ask a physicist what is energy, a mathematician what is infinity, or a poet what is love.

America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.

Let's take a look back at the ambitious 1930s plan to erect this monstrosity over the city.
Oh my god. Why haven’t I heard of this before?
My eldest daughter is 12.
Today she discovered fanfiction.net.
She said to me - “mom - some of this is better than the original book.” (She is reading the Marissa Meyer books - cyberpunk retellings of fairytales. The original book - Cinder - was a NaNo book.)
She is not ready for porn. At some point, she is going to come to me with her eyeballs bleeding and I will know why.
@sathinfection - this made me think of you. Ha.
Acetaminophen during pregnancy may increase risk of hyperactivity in kids
Saw Ghostbusters. LOVED IT.
I really want to take my daughters.
I am so sad that it is too scary to take my eldest to. She would be traumatized for months.
Maybe I will get to take one of the twins. E is into scary and creepy things.
Maybe we will wait until we can get it on DVD. On a small TV screen (which is what we have) maybe the creepy ghosts wont be as scary as they are in IMAX 3D. Ha.
We are about to leave to take them. Wish us luck….
Much luck to you!
It worked out okay!!! Yay! The twins, who are adrenilin junkies, had actually already seen it at a sleepover birthday party. The LOVED IT. the older one, who is a more sensitive soul, was coerced into going today. She was scared, but she loved it. So, win. :)

I love it too!
@cnoocy look!

The box said "2 hour easy oops-proof install!" 5 hours and a least 2 oops later, we have a new storm door.
“communist countries have propaganda everywhere!!” meanwhile in the us there’s an american flag within every square mile, kids pledge their allegiance to that flag every day at school, and the us military attempts to recruit people before theyve reached the age of 13
i told my dad about the pledge of allegiance and he said this sort of shit wouldn’t fly even at his old school and he did kinda grow up in communist poland so like
and in texas we have a SECOND pledge we have to say every morning because we also need to pledge to the flag of texas (just in case we secede again)
wait what the fuck texas
Texas for the win ever got damn time
And we have TEXAS history we have to learn.
Do you know how many weird looks I got when I moved to Connecticut from Texas and asked them what year they took Connecticut history…
And then trying to explain why we had to take Texas history and realizing I had absolutely no idea.
Uh, I remember taking the Indiana History class in elementary school. Is that not a thing in each state?
super scientific poll time:
What state did you go to school in & did you take a state history class?
If your outside the US- feel free to join in with whatever your equivalent would happen to be..
I’m from Texas, and we had to take Texas history every third year in grade school (rotating between it, US history, and world history). It was also required to take a course on Texas government (spoiler alert: it’s basically a clusterfuck) during undergrad at a public university in Texas.
I asked my California-raised husband about California history in school, and he laughed. “They do that in Texas?”
Of course they do that in Texas. It’s the most narcissistic state in the country, lol.
There was an Oregon history unit somewhere in third grade. Probably only lasted a couple of weeks. I still know the words to the state anthem.
I had Oregon history officially up through the fourth grade, but even afterward there was a lot of Oregon history filtering through everything else. I will be on my deathbed and still be able to tell you about Lewis and Clark’s expeditions.
Nothing in Florida. Georgia teaches Georgia history. No state pledge or anthem in either.
I am from New England. We don't need state history because that gets covered in us history pretty well.
