Owl me one of these to use in a drabble.
Directions: Once a prompt phrase has been sent, you must use the phrase in your writing. No specifications on whether who should say it or who you should write it about - unless the one who asks says so. Also, if you are prompted by another character in your RP, the drabble should involve the said character.
1: “C’mon, let’s try it. They test this stuff all the time to make sure it’s safe.”
2: “I promised I wouldn’t tell anyone, but I guess I can trust you.”
3: “Fine. You’re the ‘native’. You tell me how to find our way back.”
4: “If we have this conversation, it’s going to end badly for you. Consider that a fair warning.”
5: “It seems funny to say something so cliche, but there has to be a reason why we keep meeting like this.”
6: “Nah, I don’t love her. But she’s, you know, good where it counts.”
7: “I’ll tell my grandchildren about you.”
8: “Ordinarily, I’d never agree to this sort of thing, but you’ve got an honest face.”
9: “I think you broke it.”
10: “I hate you for interfering.”
11: “Sometimes when I dream, it feels like there’s someone else in there with me.”
12: “You won’t believe what I just got in the mail.”
13: “Well, he said he was pretty drunk at the time.”
14: “Ten bucks says you can’t go a week.”
15: “Time out! Time out! We can call that, right?”
After being cast off by Lily, Severus wrote her fourteen letters. When she stopped writing back, he wasted no time before appearing on her doorstep in Coketown.
Lily lived in a half-house with her parents and sister Petunia, far enough away from the slum to be quiet and...
Severus was surprised to hear a rustling in the thicket nearest the riverbank. When he saw Lily bend her head low beneath a tree branch and sit down into the space across from him, he was confused. She had seconds ago stood by in her bedroom with the curtains drawn shut as Petunia told him that Lily never wanted to speak to him again. Yet there she was, saying his name.
It had been ages since she'd deigned to even look at Severus in passing, let alone speak a word to him. Maybe she felt he'd twisted her arm by showing up on her doorstep. "I know you told me not to bother but I had to. I want to apologize properly."
Their spot on the riverbank was where they'd discussed many things over the past years. A part of him felt close to Lily whenever he was there, which was why he'd gone to it rather than back to Spinner's End. He often found himself avoiding it because every time he was alone, he felt that Lily would join him at any moment.
Only, it wasn't just at their spot that his mind played tricks on him. It was everywhere in Coketown, from Pegasus's Arm to Pod End. He couldn't shake devastating loneliness and he wasn't sure he didn't want to feel haunted by her. Because as long as he kept hoping to be reunited with Lily, the reality of their separation could be escaped.
He looked at her red hair and green eyes. "I'm sorry for ruining our friendship."
“To avoid attachments for fear of loss is to avoid life.” Part One II Severus & Lily
After being cast off by Lily, Severus wrote her fourteen letters. When she stopped writing back, he wasted no time before appearing on her doorstep in Coketown.
Lily lived in a half-house with her parents and sister Petunia, far enough away from the slum to be quiet and reflective. It even had a garden outfitted with a table and some chairs where the neighbors gathered with their dogs. It was too late in the evening for it to be occupied and Severus was all alone in Pod End as everyone was inside watching television programs or listening to the radio. He knew Lily was at home because the yellow curtains to her bedroom were closed. She liked to keep them open unless she didn't want to be spied on.
After hesitating (he usually walked right on in), Severus knocked on the door. He waited several minutes before the door opened enough to reveal Petunia Evans, Lily's older sister. Her neck was longer, he noticed, and her lipstick two shades brighter, however, Petunia's voice was just as dour and unpleasant.
"She doesn't want to see you."
Severus looked at Petunia vacantly. "She could tell me this herself."
"Well, she doesn't want to," Petunia said. "Don't send her anymore owls, either."
He almost felt like pleading with Petunia, as if that would somehow change Lily's mind but he knew he'd just look pathetic. "Alright," he said lowly, staring at the paved steps as Petunia slammed the door shut and turned the lock for extra measure.
Taking his time, he made his way back to Spinner's End through the play park. He sat down in their usual haunt by the river, his thoughts racing without any kind of resolution. All he knew was that he couldn't keep bothering her. He couldn't keep begging for her forgiveness. Lily would have to decide that she forgave him. She would have to approach him.
All he could do was wait. There was a possibility that she would miss him and against her better judgement start talking to him again. But Severus really didn't know.
