sonic drawing i made for fun, based off an avatar i made for him in a roblox roleplaying game. yeah i know his tin hat doesnt make sense but i really just wanted to use the cd intro design because it was cute.

Breaking down some of the design choices here, I chose a tin hat as a little nod to the Jay Garrick Flash. Originally I also wanted to give him a little shield, sort of like the one Grogu has in the Mandalorian, but i thought that the hat could serve as both a shield and accessory. The cape is probably the strangest part of the design here, considering the very visible Band of the Hawk emblem attached to it. No, Sonic didn’t get sucked into the Band of the Hawk during a larping session (though that would be hilarious), and I didn’t really have an explanation for the emblem. Ultimately I settled for the following; the cape shown is Rickert’s, probably an older one from his earlier days with the BotH, and Rickert (or someone else) kept it around after he’d long outgrown it. He either lost it in battle or he left it behind at camp when his half of the BoTH was wiped out by Rosine, and after that some merchants probably looted the remains and found Rickert’s old cape. It was cleaned, sold, and probably traded a few times until Sonic got a hold of it. As for the final element, I decided to give Sonic a sabre just so he wasn’t throwing himself at enemies all the time if he were ever taken seriously ingame. Fantasy worlds are terrifying. It may not be much, but a sabre is enough to allow him to safely fend off more fantastical horrors, and it fits a quicker fighting style. I did think about giving him a fencing sword, but it felt too little for Sonic.

this is an au robotnik who i’ve designed and dubbed “devil robotnik” because of the fact that’s pure evil. go figure

fun fact: his design was based off of this silhouette from persona 3 reload because i thought it looked like robotnik
