❝ you never know what kind of secrets people might be hiding! if you haven’t noticed, there are some seriously dodgy people here. ❞
lydia frowned, her annoyance and frustration growing with every word. normally she wasn’t one to hold her feelings back, particularly on the sass – the words she was dying to say were pushing at her teeth. though here was not the place to make rivalries, here was not the place to be childish; she had to figure out what was going on calmly and responsibly. she closed her eyes for a second, taking in a deep breath before continuing.
❝ for your information, i have thought far ahead – enough to know that this place is a walking contradiction. ❞
The frown on Lydia's face was met with one of Erik's own. Temptation was rising on calling her out for her loud volume and simply walking away. But it seemed that he could no longer imply her lack of intelligence anymore, for something had caught his attention, if only for a moment.
Secrets.
In Erik's case, he never had anything to keep. He had never been lied to, nor had he ever found the necessity to lie; the idea of doing so was far out of his reach. Yet differences between the two places only made the seed of doubt easier to plant in the young raven. The facility back at home bred the experiments, raised them in the facility- these plucked them from the outside world, like ripe fruits.
Humans were different. Humans could lie. A frightening enough thought to send a shiver down the boy's spine.
Breaking down was no option, however. With teeth clenched, he responded, his tone somewhat more interested than before. "If you've thought as far as you claim, then what are those contradictions?".
