He liked the way her cheek felt against his palm, but more than that, he liked the way she smiled. Even now, with its impish curve, there was something to appreciate. He always looked forward to seeing her smile ââ no matter if it was sweet or mischievous, a wide-toothed grin or a softer, gentler sort. Each showed a different side to her, and he looked forward to getting to know them all, for he knew that he loved all of her.
âSince when did this become a competition?â He chuckled. If it was, then there would probably be no end to it, not unless they agreed that it would end in a draw. He tucked a lock of her hair behind her ear. âYou keep my life exciting. Iâm not just sticking with you for an award.â A pause. A more playful grin. âDo I get one though? Thatâd be nice, I wonât deny that either.â
The way he stared at her only deepened the shade within her countenance. Love only came from those enviously blue irises that contradicted the espresso shade. Her lips parted instantly and didnât withhold any of her thoughts, âItâs not, but if it were one, I would win.â She challenged, though if her instincts were right -- and she knew they were -- he would fight her on that. Until they were evenly matched. Her smile softened when he brushed his fingers past her cheek to put a strand into place. It didnât last very long as a playful scoff left her lips. Her hand reached behind her and snatched a pillow and struck him with it, reclining her arm to try to keep it out of his reach. âIâm the award. Take it or leave it.â The sassy response spilled naturally from her mouth.

He held her close. There was not a lack of love every time he searched her eyes as there was never a lack of love on his end either. Tender moments with Callista always filled him with a kind of warmth, one he could never quite describe completely, but as he brought a hand up to caress her face, he knew that despite the possible physical distance that could be put between them, he knew, at least, that this warmth was here to stay.
Her words were a gift, one he was happy to receive, and he pressed a kiss to her lips in return. âI love you, too,â he said, after pulling away. âI love you very much.â Perhaps more than sheâd know ââ actions and words didnât always feel like they could convey enough, but Pietro tried. âYou deserve all the good things, Callista.â
the caress of his hand caused her to tilt her head against his palm. A habit of hers, and her smile only grew. Windows opened in her mind, giving her a further glimpse of what it will be like without him there. But, she couldnât let herself think like that. They were together now, and the present is what matters right now. She knows that once they get to that bridge, they will cross it together. And, Pietro planted seeds of faith in her heart -- which is a completely new feeling.
her smile curved into an impish curve and she brought herself closer, giving him another kiss. âNah, I think I love you more.â she challenged with a tone that matched her smile. A soft laugh left her lips at his last words, A sign of shyness that she often displayed, the things he said were always so genuine. Always catching her off guard. âAre you kidding me? You deserve an award for the craziness I put you through, you canât deny that.â
You need to rest, heal. The Wilderun is no place for you to be running around alone.

his patience with her has always been one of his many stunning qualities, because as a person she could be wily. Impulsive to say the least. Biting down on her lower lip, âit gradually started changing the more I wondered if it really was something I saw myself doing.â she murmured, taking his hands in hers, pulling him towards the couch to sit with him.
âit didnât really hit me until a few days ago, but marine biology is a possibility. And if I do, I would have to go abroad.â Letting him know that nothing is concrete but it is a likely option. Very likely. âUhm, it isnât something I really thought about until the other day, I asked my professor more about it and I looked more into it â and I really feel like it â that this might be something I want to do.â as she spoke her eyes shone with excitement and then she backtracked, out of shyness and acknowledgment of her own impulsiveness. âyou probably think Iâm insane right now,â she laughed.
He nodded, taking in her words as he sat with her on the couch. The matter seemed to be of great importance to her, despite the idea only having hit her a few days ago ââ and if it was important to Callista, then it was also important to Pietro. Though he thought about the distance if she would have to go abroad and how much he would miss her, he could also see the excitement in her eyes as she spoke about what she wanted to do ââ and how could he not want her to pursue it?
He shook his head, a small smile coming to his face as he looked at their entwined hands. She was not gone yet, and her going abroad to study didnât mean that he would not be able to hold her hands in his again. There was nothing to be sad about, was there? âNo, youâre not insane. You surprise me every day, but youâre not insane, and itâs not a bad thing.â He let out a sigh before he raised his gaze to meet hers. âYou know I always want you to be happy. And I donât know if youâve seen yourself, but from where Iâm sitting, you look really happy talking about marine biology. So if you do decide to pursue it, Iâm with you. Donât worry.â
She waited and then she got the small smile of his. It hit her already, thinking about the possibility of not being able to see him as often. To be able to feel his calming presence whenever the world felt like a flurry of chaos. He definitely played a role as a beacon that guided her through all of it. Hands giving his a light squeeze, she released them and allowed her arms to snake around his shoulders.
He always knew what to say, his genuinity in his actions and words always aligned. She leaned in to steal a kiss, lingering, smiling as she did and pulled away only slightly. "Have I ever told you how much I love you?" She asked softly espresso eyes meeting his.

katharinaâs fingers tied her hair in a bun on the top of her head as she propped her feet on the coffee table. her chinese takeaway resting on her lap as she looked over at her sister. she had always tried to spend time with her when she could even if that meant ordering in and eating in her living room. callista was all she had left and no matter how busy she was with work she knew her little sister always took priority. it always felt good to not have to put up a front like she had to at work. she had to be perfect at all times or someone would have even more reasons to scrutinize her. âso how are things going with that boy? whatâs his name again?â katharina asked before shoving a piece of tofu in her face. she could barely believe that she sounded more like her mother than her sister, a reality that she never thought she would have to face
both have been rather busy with their own lives, while she is perfectly okay with the independent life -- she did indulge in her sisterâs company here and there. Once in a blue moon when both donât have their hands tied in obligations. Stabbing at her sesame seed chicken dish, she took a big bite just when Katharina began to speak. Covering her mouth for a moment to turn away slightly, almost responding carelessly. The subject of Pietro had taken her a little bit off guard. When she finally chewed and swallowed the food down, âare you trying to kill me?â she asked, though the question came out with a playful note. âHis name is Pietro, you and mom have always been terrible with names.â Callista pointed out teasingly.

A sigh and the breaking of eye contact was normally not a good sign, or at least, it was indicative of news bearing much weight, but Pietro tried his best to keep all possible assumptions on hold. He would listen first. It was why he was here. He looked at her, waiting patiently with their hands entwined. âTake your time. Iâm here.â He wasnât sure if his words were of much help, but he could see her hesitation and Pietro wanted to reassure her somehow.
When she finally broke the silence, he let her words sit for a bit. Might, she said might ââ so was she still unsure? Or was she trying to ease him into a decision she had already made? âI thought you wanted to be a space shuttle engineer. When did that change?â A genuine question ââ there was no disapproval in his tone, he only wanted to know more about whatâs been going through her mind.
his patience with her has always been one of his many stunning qualities, because as a person she could be wily. Impulsive to say the least. Mikkel: you must've thought it would've been funny as i've never been to prison and i'm not a woman
Callista: you can be someone's wife and not be woman.
Callista: you may have not been in prison before, but you definite look like you could beat the shit out of someone.
Callista: I don't exactly see you frolicking in a meadow or some shit like that.

Michel glanced sideways at the woman the spoke, features scrunching up at her words. âI just want it to look like a fucking tree with flowers.â He stated simply, though it was truthfully more than that. He wanted to capture the textures just right, for his strokes to make sense and every colour to have a place. He wanted it to look as life like as possible and at present, it was not cooperating at all. Painting nature was not his specialty, usually better at painting people.
âclearly you are out of your element,â she stated bluntly before adding, âand so am I.â her espresso hues took in the painting again, observing it for any possible detail that could be helpful to him. âthe smaller details, you could try adding more texture to the veins in the leaves, and maybe a little more shade.â Callista isnât exactly the artsy type, her forte is in the science field-- but she at least passed all of her art classes to know a thing or two.

Callista: Why are you saved in my phone as âPrison Wifeâ?
ofdvnamis:
There was nothing quite as nerve-wracking as being told the words âwe need to talk,â the uncertainty that came with the statement as well as the anticipation for what kind of news Callista may have for him eating away at Pietro as he knocked at Callistaâs door. Outwardly, he tried to maintain a calm demeanour, but he bit at the inside of his cheek. Upon hearing her voice, he took a deep breath before opening the door.
Spotting her by the counter, he greeted her with a smile as he approached her. He hoped he didnât look too tense. He recalls her saying that it could go both ways depending on how he took the news ââ best to stay optimistic, then. âHey.â He pressed a chaste kiss to her cheek. âSo how are you? Whatâs going on?â
the sight of him only made the butterflies kick and thrash with her stomach walls. Facing things head on? Sure. Facing a probable situation that could possibly alter her relationship with Pietro for the worst? Take her to the next window of a sixty-five story building. A smile stretched across her lips despite herself at the kiss he placed on her cheek. Oh she wanted to backtrack so fast, but she had to talk to him about this. A sigh dropped and her espresso eyes found his before averting to the wall briefly.
âI donât.. I donât know. I mean, I do know.â she added that last part quickly with a soft laugh trailing after it, taking his hands into her own. âUhm.â a part of her also worried, would he think it was a crazy idea? I mean, the chances of that actually happening is an easy zero. But what else is a fretting mind good for? âI might go to the states, or even the Netherlands to go to school for marine biology.â she finally said after a moments pause.
half of me is a hopeless romantic and the other half of me is, well, an asshole

Her nerves felt like they were electrocuted, shot. Yes, the information that she is holding in is both thrilling and yet at the same time terrifying. She would never admit that out loud, but fear of what could happen bubbled underneath the surface. God, when was the last time she had been this nervous? Normally big decisions like these would be made effortlessly, but there is a factor to consider. Fumbling with her phone, espresso eyes look down at it before setting It face down on the counter, slamming it a little too hard at the sound of knocking.
âItâs unlocked!â she called out, knowing it had to be Pietro since she wasnât expecting anyone else.
