I wouldn’t usually post about somebody’s death, but today it has been 28 years since one of my favorite vocalists of all time tragically passed away. You’re still deeply missed by all your friends, family and bandmates Pelle, I hope you’re in a better place now, hopefully having fun exploring the vast castles of Transylvania like you always wanted.

Varg Vikernes with a photo of Fantoft Stave Church, located in Bergen, Norway. In 1992 the church was burned down, Varg was charged for the arson but in court the jurors voted not guilty. The church was soon rebuilt and complete in 1997.

Just out of interest, how did you get the scar on your jaw? 

“From a skiing accident in Geilo (Norway) when I was 11 years old. I was pierced by a ski pole and crushed my jaw when I landed, and I actually had an out-of-the-body experience and "saw the light”; a comfortable and soothing light surrounding me, carrying me beyond time, until I returned to this world and to our understanding of time. It was Belus I guess…“

‘Antiquus Malum Cruentus Scriptum De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas’ is the book that inspired Pelle to write 'De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas’. It is a book made of human skin and text written in blood that curses whoever reads it. Supposedly only one of these books ever existed.

Anthropodermic bibliopegy is the practice of binding books in human skin. The earliest occurances of a book binded with human skin can date back to the 1800’s.
