Anais Nin
"What surprises me most about humankind is that we get bored of our childhood, rush to grow up, and long to be children again. That we lose our health to make money and then lose our money to restore our health. That by thinking anxiously about the future, we forget the present, such that we live in neither the present nor the future. That we live as if we'll never die and die as though we've never lived."
~Anaïs Nin, Delta of Venus
July weekend thoughts...
✨🌈💋💯🔥🪽☠️🙏🏼🌞❔
it is easier to make one daughter the family failure
than to admit the family failed their daughter.
no one saw what was done to you.
everyone has an opinion about what became of you.
and somehow they call that justice.
-Notes from the bathroom floor // Being the black sheep.
OMG I can SO relate to this quote... AND take accountability for my part and choices...
“Don’t waste the rest of your time here worrying about other people—unless it affects the common good. It will keep you from doing anything useful. You’ll be too preoccupied with what so-and-so is doing, and why, and what they’re saying, and what they’re thinking, and what they’re up to, and all the other things that throw you off and keep you from focusing on your own mind.”
— Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
Circe Invidiosa
They called me witch before
they learned my name.
It is easier to fear a woman who
knows the language of roots,
the language of tides,
the script hidden inside
poisonous flowers.
Odysseus came ashore wearing
the exhausted smile
of every man
who believed the world
owed him another harbor.
They remember how I turned
sailors into swine.
They never ask why.
Some men arrive already rooting
through another's life,
already tusked with entitlement,
already convinced every island
is another body waiting to be entered.
My spells, my magic, were never
transformation
but revelation.
I merely stripped away the skin they
mistook for civilization.
Centuries later they paint me
in emerald light,
pouring poison into the sea.
They call it envy.
They never recognize mourning when it
wears beautiful colors.
The water glows because every curse
begins as a wound.
Scylla was not my enemy.
She was another woman standing
where the eyes of men
had already decided value
must be measured.
We were both condemned long
before the sorcery.
One became a monster of flesh.
The other, a monster of memory.
There are prisons built of stone.
There are prisons built of beauty.
I know the male gaze.
It does not look but consumes.
It arrives clothed as worship while
calculating ownership.
It praises your mouth because it
imagines silence afterward.
It crowns you goddess only until
you speak like one.
Then it reaches for words older than
bronze:
witch, temptress, harlot, monster.
They hung those names around my neck
and wondered why I sank.
Do you know what it is to be
watched
until your own reflection
no longer belongs to you?
To become a mirror
where every passing man
searches only for himself?
To have your kindness
mistaken for invitation,
your solitude mistaken for availability,
your refusal mistaken for cruelty?
So I learned another language
with plants never lied to me.
The sea never mistook my body for
permission.
Odysseus left my island believing
he had survived a witch.
I watched him disappear
knowing the world would always fear
the woman who unmasks beasts more
than the beasts themselves.
I do not pour poison.
I am emptying centuries of being looked at
but never seen.
The sea turns green because grief has its own color.
If I became darkness,
it was because every torch
carried to my door came looking
not for wisdom, but for possession.
Do not ask whether I was good.
Ask instead what kind of
world creates women whose only
Sanctuary
is feared more than
violence itself.

“It’s amazing how much damage can be done when you have nothing but good intentions.”
— Tom Marin
“Sometimes you put up walls – not to keep people out, but to see who cares enough to break them down.”
— Socrates
“The richest personality is nothing before he has chosen himself; and … the poorest personality is everything when he has chosen himself, for the greatness is not to be this or that but to be oneself, and every human being can be this if he so wills it.”
— Søren Kierkegaard, Either/Or
Timing
Inspired by Carl Jung
There are clocks that count,
and there are clocks that call.
One lives on the wall,
its hands faithful to numbers,
measuring wages,
appointments,
the distance between sunrise and supper.
The other lives beneath the ribs.
It waits.
It is unmoved by calendars,
untouched by impatience.
It knows the peculiar gravity
of becoming.
A seed never apologizes
for winter.
A river never argues
with the mountain.
The stars do not hurry
to meet the dawn.
Yet somehow,
they arrive together.
Perhaps synchronicity
is not coincidence
but conversation.
The soul whispers.
The world answers.
A forgotten song
begins playing
the moment a memory is ready.
A stranger speaks
the sentence
your heart has rehearsed in silence.
A closed door
turns out to be
the hallway to another beginning.
Not because fate
is a puppeteer,
but because meaning
has its own seasons.
We spend so much of life
asking When?
As though timing
were a lock
and persistence
the only key.
But timing is a tide.
It carries driftwood
and miracles alike,
bringing each ashore
when the shoreline
is finally listening.
So if today
feels empty of signs,
do not mistake
silence
for absence.
The universe often writes
in invisible ink
before dawn warms the page.
When the hour arrives,
what once appeared random
will gather itself
into a constellation.
And you will look back,
not with certainty,
but with reverence,
seeing that every delay,
every detour,
every impossible coincidence
was time,
quietly becoming
meaning.
Where Does the Light Go?
Is it dark inside your body?
Does your blood need light to flow?
Or does it carry a forgotten sunrise,
a spark breathed into dust
before the first heartbeat learned its name?
The chambers of the heart have never seen the sun,
yet they keep perfect faith.
Each pulse is a prayer
spoken without words,
an ancient "yes"
echoing through flesh.
Perhaps the blood does not need light.
Perhaps it remembers it.
Perhaps every crimson river
still carries the whisper of creation,
when Spirit bent over silence
and called hidden things to life.
The soul lives differently.
It wanders into shadows
and forgets whose breath fills its lungs.
It mistakes loneliness for distance,
silence for absence,
night for abandonment.
But even in the deepest places,
where no eye can see
and no lamp can reach,
the Holy is already there.
Not as a flame that burns the darkness away,
but as a Presence
that teaches the darkness to become a womb.
So the question changes.
Is it dark inside your body?
Yes.
And still, life sings.
Does your blood need light to flow?
No.
It flows because Love first flowed into it.
The light we seek
is not meant to enter our veins.
It is meant to awaken
the One who has been walking beside us
all along.
“The best investment you’ll ever make is in yourself. Never stop exploring, learning, experiencing, and becoming a better person each day.”
— Mo Seetubtim
