#yeah so for like 2 years i tried to write something about vale & uccio #read back what i could salvage from it: it was self indulgent vale teen angst about getting famous @ sixteen + graziano rossi #and to be honest....important considerations in formulating an answer to the age old question 'what is going on with vale and uccio'#in my opinion.#i do regret that this story is so heavily vale's POV and explores teen uccio's motives and interiority almost not at all #and i think it feels a bit unbalanced becuase of that also bc it's a couple of scenes stuck together #from something that was going to be longer once upon a time. but this is what i salvaged.#it doesn't really deserve to have a fun header like this but i've always wanted to make one and i'll be honest i don't have any more #proper motogp writing in the drafts that seems like it will ever see the light of day so. here you go #in honor of uccio's birthday yesterday. happy 46+1 to a really good rpf character #my fic #also like i know no one really wants to read vale uccio but if we're being honest this is a vale character study so if you're into that...#give it a click ...#if you liked the young vale and baby luca interlude for instance ..... in my head this is the same guy from that story ..... read on #<333 #vale/uccio #vale&uccio

31. least favourite clothing style that is currently popular

the first thing that came to mind - this isn't really my "least favorite" but i can't believe that these birkenstock clogs are back in style

for a very specific reason which is because I heavily associate them with the girls that went to the ultra-religious girls' high school that was connected to my elementary school who would wear them in early 2000s instead of sandals bc they were not allowed to show their toe cleavage (!) now when I see normal people and men wearing these shoes it's so crazy to me bc they are like a modesty garment in my head. in 2005 i didn't know normal people so that was my only frame of reference

my guiltiest one is true crime podcasts (one of my rotation of podcast genres used for background entertainment for doing dishes and such)

yesterday i was listening to this lecture about the sound system in Sengwato which is a variety of Setswana spoken in Bostswana because I was down a deep rabbit hole about all things Botswana becuase I read this collection of short stories set in/by a Motswana author (Call and Response by Gothataone Moeng) which I recommend! The lecture deals with a phoneme in Sengwato that is like an f combined with a sh pronounced simultaneously which linguists found interesting bc it seemed to go against a theoretical hierarchy of constraints on phonemic inventories in languages. but the video is from 2006 and has 200 views and it shows the room and there are like 15 people in there at the time and I was like wow So few people have ever laid eyes on or cared about this data they collected. crazy. I didn't even really find the framework of analysis that compelling [restraining myself from elaborating] but I was just curious about the language in general

summary of my motogp blogging recently

[off race weekend] esoteric commentary about seasonlong narrative arcs that only exist in my head; redacted and blacked out mutterings about celestino vietti career prospects (received with smatters of polite likes from my indulgent beloved mutuals)

[on race weekend] i wish jorge martin was dead (everyone cheers)

the other thing i was thinking about is the reason vale leaves cele in the basement of course is that , and i will go as far as to say, he is jealous of celestino real and true individualism , a trait to which valentino aspires , but he is deeply burdened by the anxiety of influence

#i have always believed this but just to put it out there #it's like on a subconscious level #i mean their interactions where cele is un cowed or wowed by vale is on a conscious level #and when cele prefers uccio as a mentor (not a mentor he's not really mentorable in that way but) but as a boss yk is real #which of course is the basis of celuccio arms of the multiverse bc it is so funny and such a good foil but anyway #vale says he doesn't want mentees that obsess over him like a fan #which is tru and it's why he doesn't give bez massages on the track like he does pecco bc he knows he has to cool it with bez or else he's #going to replicate all of vales sex camp outfits but more intense and then vale wont be able to look at him bc bez doesn't have #the necessary armor of detachment to do it and that makes vale uncomfortable #BUT he literally also does not know what to do with celestino who is way more obsessed with his own weird flop brother than with vale #bc vale actually does need his friendgroup to be a hierarchy (its a mental disease he has he gets scared if he has real friends)#so he's always looking at cele from a distance of part wary esteem and part judgement and distaste #bc listen. people say it is just bc cele sucks that he's the least favorite daughter #not even tru #vale will go to bat for his flop sons. rememebr when bez was like p13 in the championship in 2024 crying in the garage #and vale was like “ducati has spurned bezzecchi by not considering him for the factory seat”#meanwhile for cele he says “he was not in the conversation until he did a podium” [and it was a random p2 and not even his first #of the year...]#anyway. evidence that vale hasn't gone to bat for flop cele bc of personal reasons (scared of him)#ok but also the reasons cele is a flop are also similar to the reasons vale is scared of him so it's not unconnected #(reasons being he is slow to change who he is)#thanks for listening and partaking in my delusion #i would also accept the take that vale is scared of cele but at the same time it has nothing to do with him being left in the basement #which is just because he is not good. but i still think that vale not being a cele propagandist has to do with their personal dynamic
