Childhood;;
The first few years of her life were fine. Practically idyllic. Her father was a kind, brilliant man whose smile could light up a room. Her mother was a force of nature. Strong willed, beautiful, and always knew how to get what she wanted. They made sure her and her little brother’s every want and need were fulfilled, but did everything they could to make sure she knew that she was lucky to live the life she was living. That not everyone had what they had, and that she had to work hard in life in order to earn people’s respect. She was a happy, smart, well liked child.
Then her father got sick. They said he had a little while left, but he didn’t see it that way. Maybe he didn’t want his wife and children to have to bear witness to his slow, painful death, or maybe he didn’t want to endure that himself. But either way, he took his own life.
Her mother took it hard. She started drinking, lost her job, eventually started taking pills as well. Then came the men. They came in all shapes and sizes. Some were single, some were married. Some were old enough to be Hester’s grandfather, some, after Hester got to high school, were barely older than her. Some were kind men who saw a broken woman and wanted to fix her. Some just saw her as a cheap lay. Some of them weren’t satisfied with just her, and would get angry when they didn’t get what they wanted. But none of them lasted long.
When Hester was fifteen, her brother got into an accident and suffered some mild brain damage. With their mother spending most of her time drunk, high, or in bed with strange men, Hester took over the majority of his care. She gave up on having much of a social life beyond the occasional one night stand with boys she should have steered clear of, then with older men by the time she graduated, including the father of one of her friends.
Post High School;;
Once she graduated high school, she got herself a job and went to a nearby university so she could stay close to her brother. She was unbelievably grateful that there was actually a decent, reputable school nearby. She worked hard to stay at the top of her class, and make sure she could graduate early and get into a decent grad school. Once she finished grad school, she moved far away from her mother, and brought her brother with her, and hasn’t spoken to her mother since.
In her first semester, she had a fling with the TA for her Western Civ class. The next semester, it was an affair with a professor in the English department. That trend carried on all the way until grad school. She tried once or twice to date someone more age appropriate; someone who wouldn’t lose their job if anyone found out, but it never worked out. She’d lose interest quickly if they weren’t sneaking around.
She hasn’t been a professor long, but she’s had affairs with a few of students so far. Some were one time things, others were more drawn out. But regardless of the length, she never let them get too close, or know too much about her, and never took them home.
Currently;;
Right now she’s working as a professor at the same university that Samandriel is attending, and lives in a decent house somewhere not too far from campus with her brother. Her brother’s caretaker lives with them so he has full time care.
She doesn’t really have much in the way of friends. She’ll occasionally go out for drinks with other people in her department, but not often. Generally she’s focused on her work and her brother, and her spare time goes into her sexual exploits.
She also has a lhasa apso named Stanley.
