kvvagnerâ:
â slow down, there will be time for work. i havenât even got your name yet â friend of the avengers. â the x-man veteran laughed and took off, leading the woman toward the food court.
â when i first came to america ⌠my friends took me to the mall. â kurt smiled nostalgically as they walked through the weekend crowd. â it was a very different time. i was surprised that people accepted us, here. at that time, i had been to places where that was not the case. but i was lucky to be saved, and given hope. my friends ⌠all of them went on to save my life at least once. we were a team â x-men. we not only helped people, we dreamed of a world where we did not have to hide. where less people needed saving. thatâs how the world should be. â
he stopped a few feet away from the smoothie stand. his warm eyes smiling at jessica. â it can still be. â the smile lingered, before kurt finally broke eye contact and approached the smoothie stand, â so, you wanna talk about the disappearances? â
âoh, right.â jessica shakes her head at herself, then sticks her hand out. âjessica drew. i used to be spiderwoman. not so much, these days.â
she follows kurt along as he leads her through the complex, and she canât help a small smile. a different time, his first arrival in america. she doesnât remember her own first time here - it must have been a mission of some sort. or perhaps she was shipped over still frozen. the early days of being removed from her cryogenic slumber are fuzzy at best. âacceptance is far too rare. it always has been, in this country.â she shrugs. âbut iâm glad you found it, even if it is in such a... bizarre sort of place.â jessica doesnât mention the few times sheâd been reverted back and forth between hydra and shield, the friends sheâd almost killed. she knows what he means, sort of. sheâs not had any such problem for a long time, now, but the scars fonât go away. âthe kind of world weâre always fighting for. yeah, i know.â she nods.
she sighs. âi hope it can. i really do.â then she shrugs. âi kind of think you have more to tell me than i have to tell you. but we should order, first, at least.â
