Welcome to Chegual Island. We hope you have a killer time.
SEASON 01 —— R E V E N A N T
darling, dearest, dead.
RIP FAWN MERCADO
“I’d like to believe most people are honest. I try to always be. But…” She trails off, not wanting to admit that many people were often dishonest. “Well, you don’t have to help if you don’t want to.” She says this with no malice, simply a genuine statement. Never would she want someone to feel pressured into doing anything, especially not when the act in question was technically nonessential. “No! Oh, no…I don’t want your money. No. Just, if you wanted to come look with us…The more the merrier. That’s all.”
“That’s very kind hearted of you,” Hailey slightly looked down at her own feet - thinking about her own morality. She hadn’t been exactly the sweetest person (despite her appearance), deep down she knew she had a problem with selfishness. Greed consumed her from time to time, she was not selfless enough to trust anyone ... hell, she had always been doing her own thing. “Don’t you think there should be some safety precautions taken, like flashlights and batteries before people start romping off into the dark.” She suggested, not completely against the previous proposal. She was willing to go, but she was still a coward.
Jackson couldn’t help but feel a bit proud of himself. He was a big supporter of just talking to people. It was so much better than arguing or yelling or accusing; all you had to do was present alternate solutions to the problem at hand. “Believe me,” he said, his expression visibly more relaxed than before. “I’ll be right there running next to you.”
She frowned, not very keen on the whole idea but reluctantly she decided to follow along - this wasn’t for his sake. No, it was more of an obligation with the reputation she attempted to uphold. She was charitable, she had to be .. or at least tried. “If this ends up some prank, I’m suing you,” she blew a strand of loose hair out of her face.
Evan stared her down, lips set in a thin line and arms crossed over one another. He glanced at the book in her hands with the certain kind of disgust generally reserved for war criminals and people who kick puppies. “Sudd'nly, I can’t read.” He leaned a hip on the counter beside him. “Well, it depends on what ya’ lookin’ for.”
His own expression was something she had witnessed often but it seemed like it was directed to the book she held - her lips formed a small ‘o.’ Perhaps she had trespassed the boundaries, did he have another religion? Another God, a better one? She shook her head at his reading remark, “Course.” Holding the book behind her back she straightened her back in attempts to look more proper, more demanding - which only made her seem even smaller. “A pretty car, with a lot of cool gadgets,” her eyes shined at the thought.

It took him a moment to register that she was actually being serious. The he scoffed and took a long drag from the cigarette, blowing the smoke up towards the sky before finally turning his gaze back to Hailey, almost as though he’d already forgotten she was there. “See, you put the killing thing between your lips… and then you let it fuckin’ ruin your insides like you’re s’posed to do if you’re not a goddamn pussy.” He elected to ignore her question about Amy. At least for the time being.
Eyes followed the features of his expression - watching as as the muscles in his jaw adjust to a mix between smug and nonchalance. Obviously he did’t give a shit about her opinion and so she just stared dumbly at the boy. “I do have a vagina if we’re talking about that. And I can see that you are, perhaps have ... a dick,” it wasn’t suppose to sound malicious. But she spoke without thinking too clearly about the sentences that ran out of her oxygen hole. “We’re all dying. You just seem to be dying faster.” She covered her mouth and nose as to avoid the stench of the cigarette fumes being blown in her direction.
Like Law and Order? Maya blinked a few times, thinking it over. If it was just a human serial killer, it might end up pretty close to the tv show. Police go out, find the killer, bring them in, etc. Of course, that wouldn’t quite be the case if Maya figured out what happened to Amy, like she was planning to. The police-and-court part would be involved, though. “Maybe. Or like X-Files, if it does end up being aliens. You don’t know–they snatch people all the time without us even realizing.” Maya responded confidently, briefly thinking over several similar cases she’d read about. Young adults vanishing out of their homes, only to be found days or even months later, telling stories of their abductions. “And hopefully someone catches the killer, if that’s the case. I’d hate for someone else to get hurt.”
The girl lived in the world of her head - or in this case, the world molded by a TV box. She loved observing the actions of the characters but perhaps what really took the cake were the beautiful people. Perhaps if Hailey had been more motivated in life, she might had pursued acting. “Maybe, we could all be dead by the end of this,” she joked lightly - not giving a second thought to what she had said. She was too selfish and self serving to consider the feelings of other people. It was just easier thinking about herself. “You sound like Sherlock Holmes,” she said with a small smile.
“A lotta’ people say a lotta’ things, you’ve got to admit. Doesn’t always mean they’re true.” She gives a small lift of her shoulders, unsure exactly how to respond to the other girl’s indifference. “Um…no. But that doesn’t mean I’m not going to try my darndest to find my friend. Even if she wasn’t my friend. She deserves to be fought for.”
“Sometimes they are,” she murmured under her breath, but she had a point. Life wasn’t always so easy to understand - sometimes, it liked to play tricks on the soul ... perhaps this was way to test their humanity. “So, how am I suppose to help you? As you can see,” Hailey gestured, “I’m not your go to person to find missing people. But if you’re looking for money ... no,” Hailey said with a shake of her head.
“I mean…I s’pose, but they’ve got it all organized tonight,” Jackson replied, unable to understand how any show on TV could trump looking for a missing girl, but not voicing his opinion. “You can record TV shows, right?” he suggested. “ ‘Less you really don’t want to come, which is fine. I won’t be the one forcin’ you to.”
Though her expression was calm, on the inside she was feeling rather irritated. Annoyed that there was the sense of obligation that had crept into her nerve system and was now shooting sparks into her brain along the lines of - Jesus would be proud of you. She let out a small groan, her brows furrowed as she finally commented. “If you insist, but if I see anything disturbing, I’m running.”
