Hello and welcome to my blog!

This blog is simply random thoughts I have and any artworks I think look neat, along with random reblogs. It’s mostly Stardew valley, but here’s the list of fandoms I’m currently in anyways!

All the demetrius being a bad dad stuff is funny to me because… there aren’t any particularly good dads in the valley?

Pierre - Argues with his daughter, isn’t happy about how she chooses to express herself/her adventurous goals and spirit. He does try to be supportive, and he does love his daughter, they’re just fundamentally very different people!

Kent - Probably the best dad in the valley, but the biggest problem is how absent he is. It’s not his fault, he didn’t have a choice, but he is. Even when he returns he struggles to connect with his sons, both becuase they’ve grown a lot since he left, and due to his own trauma and PTSD making him more mentally absent full stop.

Shane - Yes I’m counting Shane so hush. We all know what’s up with Shane, the alcoholism, the short temper (not that I think he directs it at Jas) and his… not particularly positive outlook on his future. Jas literally hears and witnesses a lot of this, so not winning any dad/godfather/uncle prizes of the year awards here. But he does still love Jas naturally!

And finally…

Demetrius - He struggles to connect with Sebastian, through a mix of Sebastian’s angst and his own inability to connect on topics that he isn’t particularly interested in. He literally has a book about how to be a good stepdad, he just fails again and again on that first step: bonding with the him. And with Maru? He’s of the generation that are all ‘touch my daughter I’ll shoot you’, but he also does not have the physicality to be physically threatening people.

So TLDR: none of the dads of the valley are objectively good dads, but none of them are outright bad dads either. They all love their kids, they all just also fail to connect with them personally due to differing interests/their own internal issues.

Also not saying they’re not wrong for when they fuck up real bad, they absolutely do and they absolutely deserve criticism for that… but my point is it’s not just Demetrius.

Okay so I saw this beautiful artwork (linked in text) and it got my brain feral with ideas for SDV magic/general magic users ideas. Probably done before but what hasn’t?

So like every other aspiring mage Rasmodious began by chanting spells directly from the texts, and gradually began to memorise the spells. Eventually he lost the need for the book, but with so many runes to remember, no one could recall the all - it would be impossible. So, he opted to get tattoos of the runes he struggled with or utilised most imbedded into his skin. His arms, his hands, his back, anywhere that helped channel their magic.

My biggest gripe with the large majority of video games/animated shows/anything that isn’t live action is when the protagonist gets major life changing injury and just…. Heals at the end?

Like TOTK link, my boy loses an entire arm and he just gets his old one back at the end of the game? BORING! Give that boy a stump and let the scientists make him a prosthetic out of ancient tech they’d have a whale of a time.
