Nope (Jordan Peele)
What’s up, it’s Spoof, back with another review.
Today’s review is Jordan Peele’s new movie, Nope. I’m writing this review as I head home from the movie theatre, so this is a review I’m writing as soon as I finished.
To be completely honest, I expected much better.
I was super excited to watch the movie, but was super disappointed by the end. The movie was okay, to put it simply.
In no way was this movie terrible or one of the worst movies I’ve seen, but it wasn’t necessarily good either.
For those who haven’t seen it, it’s about a man whose dad just died and his sister coming back to where they live, and them trying to find jobs as Hollywood horse trainers. Then an alien appears, and blah blah blah, drama.
The set they had the house on was amazing. That was probably the perfect spot for Nope. The movie had beautiful shots and camera angles, and even a good amount of wonderful lighting.
The idea wasn’t exactly unique, but Peele added his own twists to the idea, which made it a lot better.
The alien’s design was interesting, and not the best, but it was okay. I didn’t understand why the alien kept changing how it looks too.
And in some scenes, it just sucks up the people, but in others it has a lot more dramatic version of it? It didn’t make sense how it changed with seemingly no rhyme or reason.
It seemed to just be different. It didn’t stick to one specific thing, with the lighting and the camera shots and angles too.
Some camera shots would be incredible and well done, and then some wouldn’t. Wonderful lighting in some scenes, but then in others you couldn’t see anything at all.
I understand making scenes dark, but some scenes in Nope would be unnecessarily dark.
Over all, I’d probably rate Nope a 4/10.
See you later, ghosts, ghouls, and goblins!
