Personality:
He's hopeful and chipper but has his depressive moments. He seems to be very understanding and self-aware, so self-aware that he developed an overthinking problem.
How He Got to Town:
Samson decided to move to the town of Spooky Month, believing it would be a good place for a fresh start. (He had an alcohol problem from when he was 17 to 20.) Lucky for him, he has family here to help get him on his feet and keep him away from any bars or gas stations (oh, he smokes too). In his attempts to quit his bad habits, he eventually lands a job at the movie theater due to an opening and his hopeful attitude. As he works towards getting his own place, he stays with his cousins and grandpa. As Samson gets used to his new life with all its changes, he gets dragged into the habit of wearing his Halloween costume, similar to his cousin and his friend; he dresses as a mummy whenever hanging out with the kids or just when he feels like it. (It's a habit better than his drinking and smoking problems.)
Oh Boy Cult Lore:
So yes, he does get mixed up with the cult but not of his own volition. Samson accidentally stumbled upon one of the cult’s meetings while looking for a good place to sneak a smoke in the forest, and instead of the cult members killing him right then and there, they basically jumped him and gave him an ultimatum: either his loved ones' lives are put in danger, or he becomes a member of the cult, in which case they won't hurt his family.
Basically threatening him to join them, and it works; Samson is a member of the cult and keeps it a secret, but he's not happy about it.

He has a dog he found on the streets that he named Anubis.
