Finally, a new pinned post! This has been a long time coming, because I wanted to try my best to get it right.

Hi! I'm Kiera, I'm 27, and I write and draw art pertaining to noms. This blog is more of a place for me to make shitposts, share some WIP pieces, and explain some background lore of my overarching canon. I'm working on another blog that'll only be for finished pieces, the name of which I'll share when it's ready.

The old DNI banner is going away, and I will replace it with a new one when I have time to create it. This pinned post provides all current info about my guidelines, and will stay updated if they ever change.

I'm not interested in ever going back to using the vore tags. The more time goes on, the more I consider the things I create to be related and adjacent to that, but not exactly the same thing. To be clear, I don't think the people in this community are doing anything inherently wrong or that they're bad people, I just don't think I quite fit into the same category as them.

The main character of my overarching story is directly based on myself, and her partner is directly based on my real-world partner. Please be respectful in comments about them.

The story I'm writing about these characters begins in the past, and runs up to the modern day. Many earlier stories in this timeline are fictionalized accounts of real things that happened to me when I was in school. Please don't be weird about that. Like mentioned above, I will block you if you make me uncomfortable.

I've stated a few times that the first Healers were beasts who gave up predation in the interest of using their strength to help others.

The attributes of a predator are still there, but repurposed. The ears are attuned to the sound of distress, the nose sensitive to scent of blood, the legs built to chase and overtake. This is all used to seek out, heal, and defend the sick and injured.

That said... Although these attributes are re-tuned into a desire to help, Healers do still possess some urges that can come off as threatening.

If your voice, your smell, or your body movements set them off in just the right way, you may accidentally end up on the wrong end of a very frightening game of tag. The Healer won't actually hurt you, but they may be rougher than they mean to, and you may end up tucked away somewhere dark for a bit before they snap out of it and let you go.

Though this doesn't result in physical harm, it can cause some undesirable consequences and questions. The Healers realized this long ago.

That's why they have their own sport to satisfy these urges without randomly scaring anyone... The hunting game.

In this game, one team acts as the hunters, and the other acts as their targets. There are always at least as many targets as there are hunters, though sometimes, the hunters are outnumbered. Never the other way around.

Crucially, everyone involved is a willing participant. Both teams are usually comprised of Healers, but on some occasions, outsiders are invited to play as targets. Don't worry, they're very thoroughly informed of what the game entails!

The intensity and length of the game depends on if it's a "quick" match or a tournament. A quick match lasts for at most two days, though is typically over within a few hours. Tournaments, on the other hand, can go for upwards of a week and a half. Each Den holds a big tournament once a year. The main Den's takes place in the beginning of summer, when the foliage there is thickest.

Before the game, the teams meet and familiarize themselves with each other. Every participant is given a pack with supplies, such as a first aid kit and weather-appropriate gear. Targets also get food and water, and hunters only get water. I'm sure you can see where this is going.

Each hunter's goal is to catch and "contain" at least one target, though they can take in multiple if the hunter team is outnumbered. In some cases, a specific hunter will be assigned a specific target to catch. Hunters are encouraged to go all out in their pursuit and put on a show.

Targets are tasked with camping out and evading capture for as long as possible without leaving the play area, which will be a cordoned-off section within an area of Healing territory. The main Den's matches take place in the forest surrounding it. Quick matches take place in a much smaller area than the big tournament does, and the play area is moved to a different spot every time to up the challenge.

Quick matches are played simply for the fun of the game, and to blow off steam, but a tournament is higher-stakes. Prizes are given after the tournament for first hunter to catch a target, last target to be caught, and for impressive or flashy performances, among other things.

The game is captured using magic cameras for other Healers to watch and broadcast live to screens within Dens, with commentary from the hosts of the event. This stream can also be accessed from personal devices if you know how to reach it. This requires an encoded password that only Healers and trusted outsiders know, which changes periodically.

As promised, I'm going to elaborate further now on Gwen's specialty, and how you can go about getting HRT and other gender-affirming care in the Den.

The world the Healers came from is very different than ours in a lot of ways. One of those ways is the fact that transness is not demonized there, and is as close to universally accepted as something can possibly be. It's seen as a simple fact: The sky is blue, leaves are green, and some people are trans.

Gender-affirming care is as accessible as any other form of medical care, but the Healers offer pretty much the best quality of it in the world. You get to choose every aspect of it, down to the smallest details.

Gwen's method is one of the forms you can receive. She will take you in to heal you, and her power will slowly change your body. It can see where you are now, and it can see where you want to be. It will not only get you there, but will make supporting changes to ensure you'll stay at that point as long as you're happy with it.

Gwen's specialty is not completely unique to her, but she's currently the fastest in the world who has it.

This method is still relatively slow, and is done in limited sessions over time; Carrying a patient at all times would be uncomfortable, and would limit the amount of patients she can help. Gwen doesn't only perform gender-affirming care, but also can heal conditions like endometriosis and PCOS, among others. This puts her services in high demand.

You can also receive the same nonmagical gender-affirming care that exists in our world at the Den, but at a much higher quality. Medicine is not for profit here, and doctors really are most concerned with how to help you best. HRT medication of every type is free, and can be delivered directly to your home after you tell the doctor what you need. Surgery is simple, and you can be healed and ready to go home on the same day. You can even choose whether or not you want to have scars afterward, and what those scars will look like.

If you prefer a magical method, potions are also an option. They come in a variety of formats, from a standard potion in a bottle, to potion-filled candies. You can customize what your end result will be, what you would like to change, and what you would prefer to stay the same. If you don't like how something turns out, you can go back and get another potion round that corrects it. You also get to choose how your potion is dosed out, what order each change happens in, and how long it will take for you to reach your end result.

You can also have spells directly cast on you, with the same customization. For this, you don't have to remember to use your potion, you just have to remember to come to your appointments.

The most important aspect of all these is choice. You get to choose exactly what happens to you every step of the way, no matter which method you go with. You get to choose exactly what you look, sound, and feel like at the end of your treatment. You choose what parts of the treatment to omit, and you can add in things that aren't usually done. You, the patient, are the only one who gets to decide. The doctors will listen to what you want and need, and will make sure you get it.

I wanna talk in depth about something I've hinted at in the past, and will continue to build on:

As a Healer, the more you use your power, the stronger it generally becomes. Alongside that, the more you heal a specific type of malady, the more your power will "specialize", and become better and faster at healing that thing. You can still heal other things, of course, but slower.

For example: Kiera Todd, main character of my story, has specialties in healing traumatic injury and infection. Her power is very good at things like sealing wounds and mending broken bones, as well as destroying germs that cause disease. In her current state, she can heal these specific things in matters of just a couple hours or less. She is not quite as good at healing things like, say, insomnia. She theoretically could heal this, but it would take much longer than what she specializes in.

Specialties can be simple and straightforward, like Kiera's, or more complex and somewhat abstract.

Another example: One Healer who works in the main Den's hospital is a mothperson named Gwen. Her power specializes in hormonal balance and gender-affirming care, and can do in days to months what could otherwise take years. I'll go deeper into how this works later.

Other Healers can have even wilder specialties, like stopping nightmares, fixing teeth, and even breaking curses!

Healing is able to do this because of how it works at the most basic level. It "checks" for harm occurring to the body of a patient, and then uses the Healer's immune system or magical abilities to reverse that harm, and prevent it from happening again.

Questions on this subject are welcome! I love talking about the little details like this.

I have been majorly diving into worldbuilding lately, and I've realized that some info posted here previously is now incorrect.

Namely, the "major" winter holiday in this world: It isn't christmas, but *the winter solstice* (referred to often as simply "Solstice", or more rarely the "moon celebration")

The winter solstice is the longest night of the year, and to celebrate that, the moon spirit throws a hemisphere-wide party that all can participate in. It's customary to leave out some small offering to thank the moon for what she does for the earth. She also appreciates it if you leave something for her wife, the sea spirit.

This night is also when Santa Claus (who is a drake in this universe, and not a human or elf) visits most people around the world. The morning after is when you find your presents.

Christmas actually DOES still exist... But is celebrated by vastly fewer people, as christianity is considered a fringe religion, unlike in our world.

I found out that the "noms" tag is currently mostly used by younger people, and they've asked that people my age (25) and over not use them.

On the one hand, I've been using them for a really long time; Like, pre-sideblog times. There hasn't been a problem with me using them until very recently.

On the other, times do change, and sometimes we have to change with them. So, I ask this:

Start using "Trash" tags instead.

So, judging by the results of this poll and some helpful comments, I'm gonna continue on with the noms tags as I have been.

I have some desired updates planned:

* I want to update my banner; The old one is drab. I want it to be more decorative.

* I want to try and post more, and post more serious stuff rather than just shitposts at that.

* I want to tweak my theming a little, and also want to draw a piece that gives some context to my icon.

I guess that's all I have to say for now. I still have another project I'm trying to start on outside of this blog, so these changes may not happen too soon. I'll keep everyone updated.

Since this is outsider-safe, I'm posting this on my main first.

Let's talk about how they celebrate Halloween at the Den!

Quick refresher: The Den (specifically the main Den in this context) is the central headquarters of the Healers on earth, as well as a sprawling underground city. It is located in the Raven region of Tennessee in a long-dead volcano. Being a city, there are many places within the Den where creatures can live. Most who live here are Healers, but some outsiders also reside here for a variety of reasons.

Community gatherings are fairly frequent these days, and they're an absolute blast. Food, live music, the works. Anyone living in or visiting the Den at the time is welcome, Healer or outsider.

As you can imagine, Halloween in particular is a HUGE deal at the Den! They have a festival that begins a week before Halloween. The celebration ramps up every day, culminating in a gigantic party the day of Halloween itself.

A new addition to the celebration is a set of haunted house attractions around and within the Den. These were set up here after an... Incident just a few Halloweens ago. They range in their scariness from kid-friendly to genuinely terrifying. These are set up outside the Den itself, and it's encouraged for residents to bring guests here to check them out!

Trick-or-treating is a huge deal here, too. There are candy and treat stations dotted all over the Den, and you can get candies here that you can't find anywhere else! Everyone is allowed to trick-or-treat here; It's not restricted to just kids.

On top of the candies here being unique, there are cultivars of produce you can't find elsewhere, too. There's an orchard where all types of magically altered fruits are grown, including a type of green apple that's green all the way through. These apples taste much like artificial green apple flavor, but with more depth and balance, and they're perfectly juicy on top of that. They're used for making perfect caramel apples, and a spicy, shockingly neon green cider.

... Why no doodle for this one? Because I'm going to be drawing and describing the special candies you can get at the Den for the inbox trick-or-treating event this year! No limit on how many candies I'll give each person, come back around as many times as you want! (Translation: if you send multiple trick-or-treat asks, I'll answer each one with a different candy drawing.)

I guess this one isn't really any less batshit than the last...

A monster house would make a REALLY good Healer.

(Spoilers for the 2006 film "Monster House" under the cut! You should watch it if you haven't seen it.)

... Okay, so maybe the monster house from the movie wouldn't make a very good Healer, considering the whole murderous rage thing.

But, another, kinder spirit possessing another house in the same way could make a really awesome Healer!

In this specific interpretation of a haunting, the house has become the new body of the spirit... And since Healing covers the entire internal area of the body, you would be healed constantly while inside the house (and, unlike in a regular body, there would be no barriers imposed on parts of a house by Healing).

The healing power would work quickest while in the "stomach" of the house, just like with regular Healing, but the power would still exist and work throughout.

Being clumsy in a house like that wouldn't make a difference. Bumps and scrapes would heal within minutes instead of days.

It'd be a great place for someone with chronic health complications to live. Even if the house couldn't permanently fix their condition with the strength of its power, it could keep them comfortable as long as they're at home.

Starting with a batshit one this season...

Here are some ways that Healing might be able to defeat a xenomorph.

I've now watched a couple of the Alien movies, and taken mental note of a few things as I've watched (because I'm insane), which gave me the idea for the first Halloween post of this year.

Without further ado:

A Healer wouldn't be in much danger at all if attacked by a facehugger; a Healer's magically altered immune system can detect malice or intent to harm, and release a calming chemical in response. The chestburster wouldn't be able to gather the strength to claw its way out as usual, and would be contained.

If someone else got attacked by the facehugger, they could be taken in and protected by the Healer.

Healers cannot be harmed by acid. If necessary, a Healer could take on a xenomorph hand-to-hand without the risk of being burned by its blood (though the taste of it would still make them sick).

Lastly, Healing magnetism could potentially intimidate or confuse xenomorphs and prevent them from attacking for long enough for the crew to escape.

Rare outsider-safe piece of info about Healing:

Healing is pretty strong magic, and it never shuts off. Even while the Healer sleeps, even when truly unconscious. It becomes an integral bodily process, like their heartbeat and their breathing. It never stops as long as they live.

Obviously, this uses lots of energy. Because of this constant energy use, Healers have to eat quite a bit more than outsiders of their same species. They eat bigger portions and eat more often than others tend to, given good conditions.

Healers are also blessed with more powerful and more attuned senses, including their senses of taste and smell. Good flavors in their food are amplified. They can even taste flavors that outsiders fully can't. You know those jokes about shrimp colors? That's what these flavors are like; an outsider can't even imagine them.

Fun real-life fact: You gain more nutrition from your food when you enjoy eating it. Look it up, it's true!

With all of these factors combined, I come to the main point of the post: Healers have their own cultural foods in places where they congregate across the world. This food is very calorically and nutritionally dense, and also incredibly flavorful. If an outsider were to eat this food, they would likely need only half or even a quarter of the portion that a Healer would need of the same dish.

I just find it neat.

(Forgot to say at first for the uninitiated: an outsider is someone who IS NOT a Healer.)

Healers have developed their own special cultivars of fruits and veggies to use in their food. There are many, but I'll only talk about one for now: A breed of tomato grown mostly in the main Den, which is situated in what we know in our world as the American south.

These tomatoes have a rich, savory flavor, almost like roasted meat. They're also really big once fully grown, around the same size as a cantaloupe. These tomatoes are often picked while still green, sliced, and fried, and either eaten by themselves or as a topping in sandwiches.

One of the common areas of the Den is essentially a huge cafeteria that operates 24/7. You can visit here and get fresh food made from local ingredients anytime. Great way to try whatever crazy fruits and veggies are in season at the moment.

I'm essentially going to be doing a prompt list kind of like the one I created, except the list will only be known to me.

I don't have dates yet, but I do know a couple topics I want to touch on. Gonna keep those to myself until the posts are made.

Random specific thing I think about a lot in trash: The action of the prey turning themselves right-side-up after being swallowed headfirst or otherwise wriggling into a more comfortable position.

Just imagine how that would feel from either side.

On one, pressing out at the yielding walls surrounding you, trying to push yourself off of them to turn yourself around. Finally ending up in the perfect position for a nap.

On the other, feeling them pushing and elbowing around in your belly, trying to get cozy. Even better if you assure them they don't have to be gentle about it; It doesn't hurt you, it feels nice.

And that isn't even getting into how that moment would look.

Gah, I just love it. 10000/10. I always have to at least acknowledge it in my story if the trash is the focus.
