This is a Scarian-centric event week that will run from July 22nd to July 28th, 2024, organized by @raichett and the Menagerie team, (@definitelynotshouting, @corvidaearts, @cocoabats, @kunehokki)! All works created for this event can be submitted here for archiving.
The event tag we are using to track prompt fills will be #hotscariansummer2024, so make sure to tag any fanworks with that— and don't forget to tag this blog directly in your post so we can see and reblog your work!

What is an event week?
An event week is a scheduled fandom event that spans seven full days, and uses a set of prompts for fans to create media from. These prompts are posted prior to the event week’s scheduled run date, and correspond with each day of the week that the event is live for. A list of alternative prompts are usually provided in case any specific day’s prompt happens to not spark joy— these alternative prompts can be used as another prompt’s substitute at any time.
Most event weeks have a blog which contains all the information needed to participate in the event— these blogs also act as a central location and archive for any works created during said week. That's what this blog is for!
What is “Scarian”?
“Scarian” is the name of the MCYT ship Grian x GoodTimesWithScar, either as their characters, or as fictionalized versions of the real people. The key is that they are being depicted through a romantic lens, so even if romantic feelings are only implied in the work, then it still counts for our event! This event is specifically called “Hot Scarian Summer Week 2024,” so Scarian should be the focus of any prompt fills used (though of course other characters are allowed to appear!).
When is the event?
This event is running from July 22nd to July 28th, 2024.
Wait, I'm late and I want to join in. Can I do that after the event is over?
You can still post prompt fills any time after the event! We will be actively monitoring our event tag until two weeks after it has finished running (our last day of active monitoring is August 11th, 2024). If you post anything after that point, please tag this event blog to ensure your work is seen. Late fills are more than welcome, even if it’s months later!
What types of art are allowed?
Writing, poetry, fanart, webweaving, pixel art, comics, handicrafts— basically anything! If you can think it, then it counts.
Is there anything that is disallowed?
We will not accept or promote anything AI generated.
Why is AI art not allowed?
The subject of AI art is, understandably, a topic that a lot of people feel strongly about. As of right now, AI art is being fueled by enormous amounts of art theft, and there are currently no legal protections for the artists and other creators who are being stolen from. Because of those lacking protections, we view the creation of AI art as unethical, and therefore it is disallowed from this event.
What are the expectations for content and conduct?
You can make any type of content you want, including NSFW, gore, RPF, genderbent, etc. Your responsibility as a creator, however, is to content warn for your works as correctly and accurately as possible. This is to ensure that those who don’t want to see the content you’re making don’t have to! Likewise, you are also responsible for your own engagement with fan-created works— it is up to you to take care of yourself and heed any content warnings given. Make use of the tumblr blacklists and if you don’t like something, don’t read it.
Harassment of others for any reason is not acceptable, and will be neither tolerated nor promoted.
Wait, you’re allowing THAT content? Why?
While our team has their own personal preferences, we take a strongly anti-censorship view with regards to media made: fiction is not one-to-one with reality, and depiction does not automatically mean something is condoning, glorifying, or romanticizing its subject matter. Everyone is responsible for their own engagement with fictional media, including us, and we expect anyone who participates in this event to understand that as well. Again, if you don’t like something that’s been posted, don’t engage with it, and continue scrolling.
What about CC boundaries?
Our team, and this event, operates on the view that CC boundaries are the rules for directly interacting with them (e.g. messages in their chats, tagging them in posts, engaging with them on social media, etc.). Since this is a space created by fans and intended for fans only, we will not be tagging or engaging with any content creators on this blog/in the fanworks submitted to us. In the interests of preserving this as a fans-only space (and respecting those CC boundaries of engagement) if you do tag a CC in your post, regardless of content, we will not reblog it.
Do I have to make something for every day?
Nope! You can make as much or as little as you want. There is no minimum word count or number of pieces you have to make for this event. Likewise, there also isn’t a maximum! Participate at whatever pace you find most comfortable.
Can I make a fanwork that uses multiple prompts at the same time?
Yes, absolutely! Just make it clear which exact prompts you are using when you post it. Also keep in mind that when your work is reblogged here, it may be tagged with multiple days corresponding to whichever prompts you used.
I have a fanwork that I’m already creating— can I submit it to this event?
While this event is primarily intended to inspire new fanworks from the prompts we’ve provided, you are more than welcome to submit something you’re already creating for if it fits within one of the event’s 31 prompts. If your fanwork does not fit into at least one of these prompts, then it unfortunately cannot be submitted for this event.
Is there anywhere else I can submit my work to? Is there an AO3 collection?
We are archiving this event primarily here, on this event blog. But there is indeed also an AO3 collection - it can be found here. You can submit event works to it and once approved it will appear in the collection.
Please note that our active archive for event works is this blog, however, and as such the AO3 collection is both optional and must be submitted to manually. The mods are not actively monitoring AO3 to request the addition of event pieces to it - if you wish for yours to appear in the collection, it is on you to ensure that.
Hey, I've created a work and you haven't reblogged it. What gives?
All works created for this event have a place here on this blog, so if we've missed your work, please know that it wasn’t intentional. Give us a few days to come online and see it; if we haven’t reblogged your work after 3 days, check the following:
• If it's after August 11th, we are no longer actively monitoring the event tag. Make sure to directly @ this blog!
• Tumblr's shadow-ban glitch means that original posts you create cannot be seen in the tags, and @'ing other users— or sending asks/DMs— is inconsistent. Check to make sure that you haven't been shadow-banned (you can send in a ticket to Support if you have), and try sending an ask to this blog. If you’re having trouble getting through, feel free to have someone else message us to let us know about what we’ve missed.
