Haha! Homerun! First to cross the finish line in any race! I'm #1 in sports, and in heroics! Well...I will someday! I'm the closest thing we have to a hero, and I'm gonna do my best! For HOPE!

i wasnāt able to do the status thing this past weekend ācause i was swamped by work and school. babaās vouching for me though, so iām gonna try to get active on these nerds this week.Ā
just a heads up that iām still alive, just dying slowly from school and work.
Santa better bring me something good this year! Last year all I got was a candy bar. This year I want a red muffler and a hero costume! So I can look the part of a hero!
Santa? I thought only good boys and girls got toys from him.
{ He laughed to himself, getting up out of his chair with a grunt. Trying to keep Masaru on his shoulders as he did so, to keep the boy from losing his little mind. }
The good thing was I was only joking, Masaru. I wouldnāt send you off that easy!
Heheh! Good! But I am good! I'm super good! I didn't shove any bugs in Jatarou's mask today!
[He sounds so proud of himself for that as he scrambles up Nidai's back so he can comfortably wrap his arms around Nidai's neck and grab his own wrists to keep himself from falling. He kicks his legs a bit.]
[Masaru clings onto Nidai's shoulders with all his might, keeping his legs bent so his feet can't touch the floor. He grunts and pulls himself up, but almost slips off when he hears Nidai's words.]
Ah! You can't do that! It's already too cold here! I don't wanna go there! At least send me to the North Pole so I can get toys from Santa!
{ He lifted his pen as Masaru kicked the chair back and forth. Was he trying to imitate an avalanche His energy surely was something else. Of course, he was used to it by now. Nothing more than a jungle gym, really. }
Alright, alright. Infamy, remembering, yes. Now please come down, before you break my back. Although, your energy has not gone unnoticed! Did you sleep well?
[Masaru climbs over Nidai's head and shoulders, attempting to get to the desk - and the paperwork that was keeping attention off of him.]
Heyyyy! Ojii! What're ya doing? Lemme see! I bet it's something weird, right? Are you plotting to take over the world? Because if you are...you know what that means!
[And by "that," he means he gets to play hero. And that wouldn't bode well for the paperwork.]
{ He sits still, letting Diamon entertain himself. He might have snuck a small grin at his energy. However, he continues on his paperwork, trying his best to deal with the little monster climbing his chair. }
[Masaru laughs, grabbing Nidai's shoulders with both hands and kicking his legs, making the chair twist from side to side slightly.]
Hahahaha! Don't tell me what to do, Ojii! I know what I'm doing! I'm a superstar, and superstars don't need old geezers telling them what to do!
[He continues his climb, stopping only when he's managed to hook an arm around Nidai's neck, thrusting the second hand into the air and laughing happily.]
AndĀ he does it!Ā The crowd can't believe their eyes! Mount Ojii has beenĀ conquered!Ā This day will be remembered forever! No one's cool enough to do this!
[Suddenly, the door burst open, a blur of red and white darting into the roo. Small hands grab the back of Nidai's chair, and the owner of the hands immediately begins climbing it (and Nidai)]
And he's off! The lone sports star Masaru Daimon has decided to take on theĀ unbeatableĀ mountain, Mount Ojii! By himself! No supplies to weigh him down!
Will he survive all the way to the top!?
[He hangs off Nidai's shoulders with one hand, cupping the other around his mouth and making cheering noises.]
And the crowd goesĀ wildĀ when he reaches the nearest spot to the top! Just a little further, andĀ Masaru Daimon has made history!Ā
Proof I absolutely blow at sound editing. But the song is going on six minutes, so I had to do some major work with it.Ā
But I couldnāt help it; I reread The Heroine Diaries last night and I forgot how sick of a marketing gimmick Nikki Sixx had for thisāgiving his book its own soundtrack.Ā
The Soldiers of Hope are running my life so of course I associate this with them.Ā
I plan on making a thing. Eventually. Because I blow at video editing, too.Ā
"Daimon!" A woman's voice rang over the sound of pounding blood and roars of a crowd.
Masaru looked up, face drenched with sweat from the summer sun and a water bottle clutched in one gloved hand. The adrenaline from the baseball game was starting to wear off, and the sound of his blood pounding in his ears was fading, the sounds of the cheers finally reaching his ears. He turned his head up to look up at the reporter and the camera that were suddenly in his face. He didn't ask what they wanted, long familiar with what they wanted, so he just smiled a dazzling smile and kept his eyes on the camera.
The interview, brief as they always were, went as usual until he spotted a small group of young children in the stands, their eyes wide and mouths wide in happiness and excitement. Grinning even more, he snatched the microphone from the reporter and spoke into it, eyes on the camera as the stadium screen shifted it's focus from the crowd to him. He could feel it, the rush he got from being everyone's focus.
The whole world could see him.
"Oi! Oiiiiiiiii!" He hooked callused and scarred fingers under his helmet and yanked it off, freeing his flatted crimson hair. "Listen up! MA-SA-RU DA-I-MON! That's my name! Everyone asks me why I play so hard all the time, and I always give the answer 'because that's just how I am,' but that's not true at all!" He dropped the helmet and pointed to the sky, eyes flashing with excitement and joy. "The real reason I play so hard all the time is because of EV-ER-Y-ONE! All of you out there, you're all the reason I fight, fight, fight! I'm the hero, and all of you helped me get that far! You're all the reason I'm strong! I'm fast! For everyone and myself, I'll fight, fight, FIGHT!"
He was brave.
"Fucking brat..." Another blow - a kick this time.
He was strong.
"Makin' me look bad..." Another kick to the stomach, the force of which knocked Masaru onto his side and tearing a choked gasp from the boy's lips.
He was a hero.
"--Taught you better than this...!"
He wasn't scared.
"Stupid fucking--"
He wouldn't cry.
Each kick and stomp, all hard enough to bruise but not kill, was punctuated with small stifled sounds of pain and a defiant grin. No matter how many times he was hit, the fire in his eyes would never fade.
A hero could withstand that much.
When his father finished "teaching him manners" and had left him to nurse the manās sudden onslaught of alcohol-induced nausea, Masaru dragged himself to his feet. Each step sent shocks of pain through his body, and his body felt like wrought iron; thick and heavy. He collapsed onto his bed after closing and locking his door, arms splayed out to the sides and back pressing against the mattress. He stared up at his ceiling, grin finally falling from his face.
Tears blurred his vision, his lips quivered, and he immediately pressed the palms of his hands against his eyes, gritting his teeth. "I'm a her...hero--H-heroes...they d-don't cry." He ground out, tears leaking out from under his hands and staining his bruised cheeks. He grabbed a pillow and stood, slamming it against the wall and punching it with his free hand hard enough where he could feel the wall through the flat and lumpy pillow. Knuckles bloody, he squatted down on the floor, hugging the pillow to his face and sobbing and screaming into it, the sounds of the boy's anger and complete despair muffled by cold brick walls and a thinly stuffed and bloodstained pillow.
Outside, cars drove by.
Outside, the world kept turning. Unchanged, and unaffected by the anger and pain of one child.
