unfortunately i must chatter because i feel the need to explain how this isn't just some random arbitrary background and song lyric and instead a strange look into how i associate things
But! I originally stumbled across this AU on April 23, 2025, one of the reasons I remember this-- at least, the one that is relevant here-- is because the song Peacefield officially premiered the day prior. And I liked the song. Quite a bit. So, as I was meandering my way through the tag, I was also listening to it... a lot. To where I ended up forming some connection in my head between the two. As in listening to the song makes me think of the AU and seeing stuff from the AU makes me want to listen to the song. (At this point you either know 100% what is going on here or are completely baffled. For what it's worth, this is not an uncommon occurrence for me) So, when I got around to make some fanart of my own, I wanted have a reference. And, at least to me, it doesn't seem that inappropriate a choice? We all know what eclipses mean to the fandom as a whole, and they feature quite prominently in the lyrics/music video. As well as some other specific word choices coughcoughstarlightcough. Also, a theme of the song is that "things may be about to get bad, but we'll get through it if we stick together." Which I think is a pretty good theme for slasher/horror things in general. Granted, this might all be brainrots colliding and I'm trying to read into things that aren't really there. Distinct possibility. (Please imagine the "I've connected the two dots" meme here kghjlkg)
On that note, please consider this my token of appreciation to not only Wyervan for, of course, creating and sharing the AU in the first place, but also to anyone and everyone who's created fanwork for it! For the, by now, hours of enjoyment I've gotten from looking at art, or reading fics, or little bits and anecdotes. Honestly this goes for the entire fandom, but it's been really cool seeing how much outpouring of creativity and support there is for each other's ideas when it comes to a game that's been out for years. <3
