True… Oh well. But yes! That’s one of the best parts. Just laying there or reading or something… Man, I love it.
You can't forget dancing in the rain! It might come with a cold a few days after but it's fun.

Beau laughed and nodded shortly. It was true, after high school he was supposed to go on to bigger and better things, do so much and have this elaborate life… And then it was all ruined. Ruined by drugs and mental illness. He sounded like a fucking Dr. Phil regular. But that was just life, he supposed. He grinned, though, at her comment about her having them again. “It will be; I’m still having a hard time wrapping my head around it, you know?” he said thoughtfully, looking forward. How had they all found each other again? It was some sort of miracle or something. “That’s amazing, look at you,” he said excitedly, shoving her a little bit. “I would have loved it and you know it, even if fashion isn’t exactly my forte,” he said with a short chuckle.
"Noah I think is the one we have to think. At least, he's the one I have to thank. Much like always, he swept right in and changed everything up for the better. All it took was one phone call." Maisie remembered the first phone call, the one where they'd reconnected and Noah changed everything without knowing it. It was easy to agree when the idea came up to go to New York. "Maybe it's just me, but I kinda wish I'd stayed home or gone back home." She shifted on the couch at the little push, giggling as she leaned away and then moved to lean against Beau. "It would have been nice to have had you there. Especially when I was doing my designs, I missed having your help with my sketches if something just wasn't looking right. I've said it a million times but I really did miss you so much."

Beau gave her a contemplative look and shook his head. “Any story is an adventure, Mais, no matter how tiny it may be,” he said softly, giving her a warm smile. Something his mom taught him, he supposed. When he’d come home from school and go off on tiny things that had happened… she was always excited for him. She always was, no matter how insignificant the event seemed. He turned and pecked her on the top of the head when she sat down next to him, curling his arm around her and folding one of his legs up underneath him. “Well hey, you graduated honors, that must have been hard, huh?” He graduated with honors too, but he didn’t find it that big of a point to make. He didn’t really work for it. “Seems like all of our lives have been pretty boring since high school,” he said nonchalantly with a shrug.
Boring was far from what Maisie would call her life after high school. Lately she did her best not to really think about it, but she still found herself tracing back the days and trying to figure out where she went wrong. "Isn't that what always happens? You look forward to being out of high school and starting on this grand life but it isn't really what you think it'll be in the end. That's okay though, I have you guys now so maybe my life will be more interesting." She happily curled herself into Beau's side, wondering to herself why she'd gone so long with being so uncomfortable by the presence of someone. Maisie knew she should have left earlier, gone home. "Yeah, worked hard to get it. My set won first place at the end of the year fashion show too. I had some of my best designs put out there and people loved them. I wish you guys had been there, you would have loved it.... Or maybe not." Maisie laughed, knowing a fashion show wasn't something most people would be interested in. Plus, she would have tried to make all of them model for her.

Noah had been making his way up the stairs, thankful for the day off and having used it to entertain Amanda, knowing it would keep the woman off his back for the next couple of days a least. Since he’d dropped her home he had one thing on his mind, getting back to his own place; taking a shower, grabbing his gear and going for a jog until he could head off to practice. It wasn’t the big leagues he had wanted by any means but it was something he liked to indulge in, a little part of him he hadn’t been able to let go of. He wasn’t good at writing or math, he wasn’t even good at being himself - but football, that was something he was great at. As he was slightly jogging up the steps, skipping every second one, he noticed the final moments of Maisie tripping over her own feet. Jogging up to her when he reached the top of the steps, the bartender leaned down to gently offer her his hand. “Careful there clumsy, you alright?”
Lifting her head up, Maisie found Noah in front of her and couldn't help but smile despite having fallen. "I'm good, I've just always been friendly with the floor." With the help of Noah's hand, she got back up to her feet and picked up whatever had fallen out of her purse. "Thanks for helping out." She rummaged through her little bag to make sure she had everything and nothing had slipped under one of the doors. "But now that you're here, are you free? I was gonna go get a quick bite to eat. Well, not exactly quick. I'm craving a hamburger more than I ever have before and I don't have what I need in the kitchen to make it." Her free hand moved to her ear, brushing back her hair to get it out of her face. "Or you might have stuff already planned and I'm just rambling like a weirdo."
Man I love the rain...
Rain is life… We wouldn’t be here without rain. Well I would be more than happy to teach any dumb rain haters a lesson. Literally. With books and sources and everything.
I'm sorry to tell you but I think that might put some people to sleep. But you know what my favorite thing is about rain? Sitting by the window and just listening to it hitting the window and watching the watch fall down.
adventurous → open
The cabinet doors were open, Maisie's eyes looking around for something that would make her stomach happy. But there wasn't much. She hated when she craved something in particular and her stomach didn't want to take any substitutions. Sighing loudly, she shut the cabinet doors and headed over to the front door of the apartment she shared with Kara. Maisie usually kept her shoes by the door, wearing socks through the apartment. As she slipped on her black flats, her fingers reached to grab her little purse off to the side on the table. Maisie decided she was going to go out to eat somewhere that had a decent burger. She just didn't know where to go for a burger. Getting outside of the apartment, she shut the door and turned to head down the hallway. Classic Maisie, her feet caught on each other and she fell down, her purse flying and everything falling out. "Are you kidding me?"
Such a long day!
That’ll be so cool. It should be an annual thing too, something like once a week, maybe even a fortnight. It’ll give us an excuse to all get together. And besides, who would turn down food? Let’s be real here. I think we need to discuss this with the others, they’ll definitely be down for this. I’m starting to like my decision about moving here.
If anyone turns it down, then we might have to question that person still being in the group. Kidding! I knew moving here was going to be good for all of us. We're all together, that makes us unstoppable and we can have so much fun. I'm ready to see where life takes us.
cleaning up → beau & maisie
Beau laughed a little at her question, nodding as he rinsed off another one and put it on the counter. “There’s just a few left, I promise, then you’ll have all of me that you want.” As long as he could hold back the shaking. He was already getting bad. Maybe if he just went into his room really quick and took another hit? No. He couldn’t do that. Maisie was his friend—one of his best friends. He wasn’t going to just blow her off for five minutes while he got his next fix. Then again… if he didn’t, well, he couldn’t promise he’d be completely coherent. And if he started shaking too bad… ugh, the entire situation was a mess. Finishing up the rest of the dishes and putting them on the rack on the counter next to the sink, he held his hands up and looked at her. “There, see? No more dishes.” He snatched up a towel and began drying his hands off as he moved toward her and leaned forward to kiss her on the cheek. It was a Beau thing, really, kissing the girls on the cheek. Half of the time he didn’t even notice he was doing it. “C’mon, let’s go sit down on the couch, you can tell me what the hell you’ve been up to for the last million years,” he teased, throwing the comment behind his shoulder as he walked to the living room and flopped down onto the couch, patting the spot next to him.
As fun as it was watching Beau do his dishes, she'd much rather be able to talk to him and just have fun. Maisie never had that before she moved to New York and after college. She was alone in a big house nearly every day and it drove her crazy sometimes. Now all she wanted was companionship. Maisie wanted her friends. "No more dishes means cleaning is done and we get to finally talk!" Getting overly excited as usual, she clapped her hands together with a big smile on her lips. A small laugh left her when she felt the kiss on her cheek, happy to have the carefree environment she had with Beau. He just had that way of making her calm and feel like she didn't have to worry. "I can't promise that it'll be that great of a story." Her reply came a little late, Maisie trying to figure out just what she could say. The truth wasn't the answer, not this time around. When she joined Beau on the couch, she sat next to him, curling up into his side. She missed Beau. "I don't know what you want me to tell you. I went to college for fashion design and business, graduated honors, got myself an apartment, got a job to pay the bills, and then came here. Nothing special!"
Such a long day!
See, we’re basically the same. Definitely. Everyone should just come over for a huge icecream fest one day, it’ll be heaps fun. Of course, love. That’s what friends are for. Besides staying up late and watching movies, of course. I can definitely see this working out.
I feel like what we need is one night where we all eat dinner together, we rotate apartments and everyone brings one dish or something. That would be awesome, like a family dinner. We're just going to be the best roommates, it is already a fact!
Man I love the rain...
Nah, I’d probably still be happy about it. Rain’s a gift.
Well rain isn't horrible, I can say that. People might need to learn from you how to love the rain so much.
Man I love the rain...
The rain is amazing, Mais! It brights so much life into the world… and it’s so calming and perfect. How could anyone not love it?
I don't know, if you get caught in the rain when you have to be somewhere at a certain time, you might hate the rain then?
Man I love the rain...
It’s so freaking peaceful. I’m pretty sure I could sleep for ten years as long as it rained the whole time.
You have a strong fascination with the rain, Beau.
Such a long day!
I wasn’t lazy! I like to think of myself as selectively hard working, doing things I only prefer. Hah! That’s good. Easy hours are the best. At least it’ll help you get used to the work you’re doing, you know? Instead of jumping in with all hands on deck.
Man, high school seemed so long ago, you know? It was such a great time, to be honest. Definitely some great memories. Awww, see, now you’re just flattering me more, Mais. Well, if that is true, I’ll definitely ask them to go buy me flowers from you. Hah! That makes a lot of sense, actually. I’ll be sure to pick them special, then, when I do. Come on, you know you’ll get all the details you want. No need to even ask. We should also catch up one of these days. Just us. I wanna know the things you’ve been up to all these years.
No, not lazy but selectively hard working does sound pretty good. I'm just happy to be working, as silly as that sounds. It's good to be doing something and not just sitting around every day.
It was a long time ago and I have so many memories that I cherish from that time. That's why I got so lonely when I first went to college because it was all new people and none of you guys. It was weird, that's for sure. I better get all the details! That's what I live for, the juicy details of your life. We do! Whenever you want to go out and hang out, just let me know.
cleaning up → beau & maisie
Beau chuckled and shook his head when Maisie spoke, wiping out another dirty coffee cup and placing it into the rinsing side before looking back up at her. “The torture, Mais, the torture,” he offered with another shake of his head. Honestly, he almost wished he had the same feelings. Then again, if he got an actual job he’d probably get fired for blacking out in the bathroom or something. That’s how he got fired from his last job, at least. They fired him because they thought he was on coke. Oh how wrong they were. He grinned at her and nodded. “Sure! We could always use more, I kind of go through dishes like water, so…” he shrugged. “Most of our stuff is from what Win brought and like, my ceramic pottery stuff. That’s about it. So that’d be great, really.” Winnie had definitely done a good job of sprucing the place up, getting it to feel a little bit more homey. He was awful at that kind of stuff; never knowing if someone would be okay with his weird decorations so he just left that to her. “Should be a box somewhere around here,” he paused with his hands wrist deep in the water before gesturing sideways with his head. “Should be one just over there next to the garbage can.”
Maisie looked into the box, fingers reaching in to probe at some of the dishes. Most of them were wedding gifts. She'd be happy to get them out from her own place. "Awesome, at least then Kara won't think I'm hoarding dishes or something." She laughed, closing the box up again and forgetting about the memories that wanted to surface. They weren't good ones. Now that she was starting a new chapter in life, she didn't want to constantly think about what happened. "Alright! I'll just set it down next to the other box." She walked over to the garbage can, looking for the other box before setting the one in her hands down. "So... are you gonna leave the dishes alone for now so we can hang out? I've missed my Beau!" Maisie practically pranced her way back over, ending up beside the brunet and giving him a cheeky smile. "It honestly has been forever and now I just wanna try and get back to the way things used to be, when all of us were close as could be."
cleaning up → beau & maisie
Beau sighed out as he plunged his hands into the lukewarm dishwater and picking up a coffee cup, wiping out the inside of it. They had a dishwasher, sure. The apartments were surprisingly nice and they had all of the necessities they needed, but sometimes Beau just needed to do menial tasks such as this to remind himself he was actually a living, breathing human being. Sometimes he needed to remember that he was more than just a walking drug machine. Cleaning was one of those things that reminded him. Not that he’d clean his bedroom… no, that was a disaster of it’s own accord. They’d only been there a week yet it was already trashed; typical Beau. He looked up when he heard the front door open and close and craned his neck a bit to see who walked in (it could have been any of them, they’d all exchanged keys to each other’s apartments to offer easy access). “Hey—what’s up? Something wrong?” he asked as he put a plate into the rinsing side of the sink.
The pencil tapped against the desk in a quick rhythm, Maisie staring down at the messy desk in front of her with a look of confusion. It seemed impossible that she couldn't come up with anything, not a single idea for a design. Groaning in frustration, she tossed the pencil to the side and got up from the desk. It would be better if she stopped trying and got her mind off of it all. So instead, Maisie grabbed a box from the kitchen that she had stored to the side and decided to go see Beau. Since she had the key to the apartment, Maisie made her way inside and heard water running. "Nothing wrong other than my ever-growing boredom thanks to my day off." Maisie replied, heading over to the kitchen. "So from my old place, I have some stuff left over and wanted to know if you and Winnie want any of it? There's a couple cups, plates, and such. If not I'm gonna go give it away since me and Kara don't need them. They're also clean, by the way. I just needed to box to carry them over." She was happy to see Beau, but still felt awkward with everyone. Maisie didn't know if Beau wasn't happy with her for losing touch like Winnie.
Such a long day!
That means a lot, you know. So thankyou. Oh, as my roomie you should know that I live for icecream, so that won’t ever be a problem, and we’ll most likely have an endless supply - woops. But I could use a shoulder every now and then, and I hope you know that I’m here for you too, Mais. Well that’s pretty good, I’m pretty sure that’ll be fulfilled here in New York then. Is that all, though? Perfect. When you have a final place in mind, I’ll be here to start planning.
I'm always buying ice cream so I think that's all good. I think if any of the others need ice cream they shouldn't have a problem with coming to our apartment and finding extra. You're so sweet, I know you're here if I need you and that means the world to me.
I think I died for like a week...
I know, I’m awful. Next time though, I promise.
Pinky promise? Swear up and down? You're not gonna leave me all sad and lonely?
