What is 'Little Late for Easter'?
'Litte Late for Easter' or LLFE is an AU I'm writing a fic for and (try to) post about. Its an AU mainly centered around William Afton, as he's both a character I like and a character who is really mistreated by both the series and fans in terms of how he's written. (in my opinion) LLFE is my personal interpretation of not only him, but the FNAF series and its other characters as a whole.
What I changed
Most if not all of the lore from SL and beyond is noncanon in this AU. I don't like the increased sci-fi elements that series acquired, and aside from a few elements from the newer games and a character here or there (ex: elizabeth, vanessa, i make a joke about edwin but don't mention him by name) its the lore from FNAF 1-4.
The timeframing in the FNAF2 segment (which is most of the story) is different. Because of when the FNAF1 ghost kids are killed, the FNAF2 location stays open for more than just a week or two like the game implies. They don't all die at once, they're spaced out.
Characters that aren't William are slightly tweaked, but still in character. (with the exception of Vanessa/Vanny, I'm pulling a FNAF movie and taking my own creative liberties with her.)
That's about it. The first four games weren't super duper heavy on story :V
How I'm writing William
I deeply dislike how William has been written lately, he's either a mad scientist or a one dimensional cartoon villain. (or both.) Because this AU is more grounded and down to earth with how the series used to be, I'm writing William to be that way too. William in this AU (I'll call him LLFE!Afton when I can) isn't a flamboyant asshole; he's a pure psychopath. He lacks empathy, yes, but he's also an actor. He's able to perfectly project himself as a normal family man living in a cookie cutter 80s neighborhood with his wife and children, the kind of man nobody would ever suspect is kidnapping and killing kids. His motives are simple but not to a detriment: he has an urge to kill, something that's existed in him since as long as he could remember, one he doesn't want to healthily cope with because that would expose an imperfection in the perfection he wants to maintain. He doesn't want to change for the better, because he enjoys harming others; its still a fun game to him. Why fight against the stream when he can go with its flow? Why bother trying to fully erase a facet of himself, if such a thing is even possible? He lives a double life, with two different personas he swaps between; the Spring Bonnie suit isn't just a way to hide his identity, it is one of his identities. This AU is my own little canon, one where I can explore how I wanna write and interpret William, as well as the series itself. If Scott and whatever writers he got for the books can make their own little canon separate from the games, I can too! That is to say, please don't yap at me about how I'm writing him and why I'm doing it the way I am. I'm just some loser dork on the internet.
Where you can read this
I did say this was a fic in the first part, and below is a link to the first chapter. I'll be updating it when I can (because I have to work at a shitty salvation army thrift store that only gives me two fucking days off in a week. free me from this capitalist conservative hell) and will post links to it in their own posts!
