major plus for the revolution 2026 tdm, Hangman literally putting the noose (dog collar) around his throat to be hung. The entire build and match was about Hangman hanging himself with his own rope. MJF was just a means to an end - Hangmans self destruction.
negatives about the tdm: I just didn't like it very much, overall. Hangman has had significantly better death matches. It felt Very Long and had a long stretch that felt like they were checking off a death match to-do list rather than just having a match. Not enough hate, not enough homoeroticism. The finish was good, there were some good bits throughout, but the match should've been like 10 minutes shorter.

Revolution 2026 thoughts
The main event felt so long, they could've cut 8ish minutes. There was a long stretch where it felt like they were just moving from one bit to the next with little connectivity or motivation beyond checking a death match to do list. There wasn't nearly enough Hatred or intimacy for me. It really stuck out how Hangman can quickly become a frightening man when he wants to. MJF is a cartoon villain but Hangman feels real and dangerous. This led to the vibes just being kinda weird to me lol. There were some good bits (the dog collar) and quite a few less good bits. Probably my least favorite TDM from Hangman.
I'm just very tired of everything involving both Takeshita and Mox. Takeshita was the main reason I tuned in from November to Jan. Now, I feel silly for getting invested. It gets to a point where you're telling the audience they shouldn't care about a guy. This Takeshita story has been moving at a SNAILS PACE since ... I don't even know, August?
Mox v Ospreay doesn't need a belt attached to it. The program is about vengeance and justice, Mox tried to end Ospreays career (and life). They don't need a belt to sell that match. Takeshita needed this win, Mox's character could've benefited from the loss, and Ospreay is a made man.
Marina v Toni should've been hair v hair. It was okay? A lot of Toni sitting while Marina kicked her. Marina is a good wrestler but I'm not sold on her as a singles ppv wrestler. She's barely a singles tv wrestler.
Swerve v Brody woke me up. First match of the night that moved me. The violence, the feeling, the hatred, all felt legit. A match I'll want to rewatch.
I need to rewatch Stat v Thekla because my feed kept cutting. But what I did see was just more confirmation that Statlander is one of the best in-ring workers on the roster. I don't need to see her with a belt but, please, just keep booking her to wrestle.
FTR v Bucks, I also need to rewatch this but Nick with a crimson mask was lovely. I'm a big fan of Cash Wheeler launching his body at people with no regard for his health. The finish was disappointing and predictable though. I am not moved by Cope & Christian for the tag belts, in fact I am depressed at the thought.
Womens tag had the correct finish. Please focus on Willow's TBS title reign now.
Andrade v Bandido, my beloved. Banger of a match. Two selfie spots was excessive but God who cares. These two brought the belt out of each other. Bandido's 21-plex has never looked cooler and he sold Andrade's elbow very well. A match I want to rewatch just to experience it again.

the thing about the Cody Stip is that it is truly illogical for Hangman to do this. So we have to assume that he's not in his right mind (which has happened before) but, idk, he's not acting crazy enough for me to really buy it. Self loathing, rage, etc have to be driving this because using the Cody Stip genuinely doesn't make sense to do in this context.
but it also doesn't make sense for his character to do this unless he's not in his right mind. "he's a stupid babyface" isn't working here because this is beyond stupid. this is self-destruction.
he's evoking the Cody Stip bc he desperately wants a TDM with MJF. he wants a violent bloody match even though the match itself is already booked and he beat MJF in regular singles action twice last year. there's no logical reason for him to want a stip match except that he just wants smth violent.
which ... okay maybe Hangers got some bloodlust going on. but this hasn't been reflected in anything else. he had a lights out match recently too where he hung a man. it's not like he hasn't had some fun violent action lately. bloodlust hasn't been prevalent in his character enough lately to make this work right now.
So my understanding is that this isn't even about how much he hates MJF, this is about how much he hates himself and he sees all that he hates about himself in MJF. He wants to destroy himself (obviously), or at least the worst parts of himself, by destroying MJF. Because he sees MJF as some sort of dark mirror. Which ... I guess.
Like, I dont hate it? But also it's just very *throws hands up* I guess.
This still feels unearned and not like a natural next step in the MJF/Hangman story. Maybe if they hadn't cooled Hangman down so much over the last few months, maybe if MJF had taken the title from Hanger in singles action, maybe if this deep seated hatred was reflected more on tv.
I really don't like having side blogs so I'll probably start putting wrestling stuff on my main @sunny12th (probably)
you should ask more from the things you enjoy. you should care and be critical about it. it doesn’t matter if it’s sports. if it’s reading. if it’s music. if it’s a tv show. you should want MORE from the things that you enjoy. you give your money…you give your time…and at the very least you give little bits of yourself to these things and i would hope that you want more for yourself than the bare minimum in return.
