ok let me talk my shit for a minute (as a non religious person lol)

ok so the idea is that god is one being in three distinct persons/entities. so there’s the father, who’s the source and planner of salvation. the son, who becomes human & comes to earth to save humanity & accomplishes salvation. and there’s the holy spirit, who guides & empowers believers to live in accordance to gods will & achieve salvation.

the lynch brothers, my catholic boys!!!! we have declan — the dutiful son, who takes the role of a father — guiding, planning, and managing the ensured salvation of his brothers and their divine world. then we have ronan — the most son of them all — who quite literally comes to earth and takes the form of a human, goes on to save dreamers & dreams & the divine energy of the earthly world. and then there’s matthew — sunshine brought to life, literally created to be the perfect brother, the perfect friend — he makes goodness look easy, he makes divine energy seem natural and right. they are three distinct beings but they are united in their divine role.

so anyway. i’m going insane.

something about gansey’s first death being lonely. him dying in the woods alone trying not to bother anyone. something about his first death holding a sort of indebtedness. him feeling that his life is a karmic balancing, a way to make up for someone else’s wrongful death. something about needing to earn that life.

something about gansey becoming anything but lonely in his second life, becoming part of a two headed and then three headed and then eventually six headed monster. moving through the world with a company of men. something about his second death being anything but lonely, surrounded by his company. sacrificing himself for his company, giving himself over to death. something about his third life being allotted not because of karmic balancing, not because of death and violence, but because of deep love and devotion from his company, his gang of merry men.

something about third time’s the charm. about being simply being born, and then reborn in exchange for a death, and then finally reborn in exchange for love.
