Haven't done a pocket dump in awhile. My Hill People Gear SAR Kit Bag completely changed what I carry. I use it with their shoulder strap as a sling bag when in the city and as a chest rig camping etc. It is functioning as my 1-hour/EDC/get-out-of-the-building bag. Still working on the 24-hour/go-bag/get-out-of-the-city bag and 72-hour/bug-out/get-out-of-civilization bag (based on the HPG Connor and Qui-Ya packs respectively). Warning: this one's a downer on Valentine's day. Today we memorialize Bobby Kramer who died Feb. 11, 2021 after a fatal head-on collision with a drunk driver. To say Bobby was a good man is a vast understatement; he is one of the best men I have ever met. We first met in our Navy Corpsman training as wee lads and I was blown away with how good a Corpsman he was. The man could literally pump out fingertip push-ups with ease thanks to his extensive martial arts training background (2 black belts). When I went to AZ for a med school interview, there was no question whether or not I would stay with him and we hiked and drank like sailors. Because I was blown away with how beautiful AZ was, I brought my wife back where Bobby and his now wife Lindsey helped me propose to my wife. We loved AZ so much because of our time with Bobby and Lindsey we named our dog Arizona. When Bobby told me he didn't want to go med school and wanted to bartend instead, I was disappointed to not have one of my best friends with the biggest hearts follow me in my career. That is, until I saw him in his element. I realized then that Bobby was every bit as called to be a bartender as I was to be a doctor. He became one of the best in the world and won numerous awards for it. What made him so good wasn't just his skill, but how easily he wore his heart on his sleeve. The man exuded love. What was even more impressive than his Irish love of life, was his unending love of his wife and child. You could just see it being around them and it left you awe struck. His absence has left an enormous hole in our lives because his presence filled it with so much love. Restoration of my grandfather's Colt 1877 DA revolver he carried in WWII. I've been wanting to do this for the past 10 years and finally had the courage. I put it in a salt vinegar solution to remove the rust patina, oiled and cleaned the parts, and then reblued the steel.
