Hello! I'm Squid (he/him) aka squidcolas on most places.

I make all sorts of stuff like visual novels, comics, and illustrations. Most people probably know me from the yandere game I made, Invite Me In. I also have a new game Fall First Fall Endless!

I have a large variety of hobbies and interests though! I like TTRPGs, video games, movies, TV shows, contemporary art exhibits, crafts, men's fashion, vintage toys, and collectables.

Some specific things I like: Marvel Rivals, Lord of the Rings, Resident Evil, The Batman (2022), and Dungeons & Dragons!

I'm a bit shy and have some health issues that pop up, so occasionally I don't respond for extended periods of time. My asks and messages are open though. Your patience is really appreciated!

FAQ:

When does Invite Me In update? No current release date for chapter two, but I am working on it.

Can I use your art/characters for (blank)? Here is a doc with some guidelines. Feel free to ask clarifying questions.

What are your inspirations for your games? Depends on which game really. But I'm always inspired by Amnesia, specifically Toma. Yoosung from Mystic Messenger and Yuri from Doki Doki Literature Club are also favorites of mine.

How do you make your games? I use RenPy to develop the games themselves and code everything. Clip Studio Paint EX is my art software. I'm honestly still a total newbie when it comes to game design (despite all these years). Please never take coding advice from me, I'm really bad at it.

Do you take art/writing requests? I sometimes take art requests but not always. They tend to be doodles or sketches when I do take them. My writing requests are currently open though! Rules here

Squid! I just had a question—do you think those three might get tattoos of MC’s name or photo?

Devyn isn’t really into tattoos so it wouldn’t be his thing. He’d rather do something else… but it would be just as permanent :)

Cole is very precious about his body and things would really have to go a very specific way for him to end up with MC’s name as a tattoo. If he did get one, I’d imagine he’d be more down with something that represents the relationship and was a matching tattoo :/c

Guy is definitely the most likely to get MC tattoo’d on him. He’d cover his entire arms with just their name if he thought they’d get a kick out of it. He’d want something really pretty and gothic by a skilled artist though ^_^

Hey, Squid! I’ve got a hypothetical question about the characters. Imagine this scenario: the MC is in the car with them when they suddenly have an emotional breakdown, even shouting about going to die together. The MC starts flooring the gas pedal, accelerating wildly—there’s a real risk of crashing at any moment. How would each of the three characters react? And what different actions might they take to defuse this crisis?

This is a bit dark, so I'll put the answers below >_<

Devyn would actually take this situation extremely horribly. He'd be so worried about MC, wondering if he did something wrong, and just overall become shaken with fear. I think he'd try to beg for them to stop but his words don't work well in high stress situations. He might randomly try to grab at the wheel or just try to shield MC in the event of a crash. He'd be more worried about their safety over his.

Cole would immediately take action to make sure both of them get out of this as safe as possible. He'd lean over to hold MC back and pull the emergency brake. He'd then try to turn off the car and pull MC out before focusing on why MC had such a breakdown. Cole can usually stay pretty calm in intense situations, but he'd be very concerned. While he knows about things like this in abstract, actually dealing with someone in so much distress would be a bit foreign to him.

Guy is probably a little too morbid to be a good passenger in this situation. Depending on his mood, he might try to "calm MC down" by describing how mutilated their bodies will be in the event of a crash OR he might just take the wheel from them and try to drive without hitting anything, all with a smile on his face. While he likes the idea of dying together, I'd like to think he'd want to save that for another day when he and MC are much older.

Squid, I’d like to ask: for someone as sensitive and insecure as Devyn, once he’s officially in a relationship with MC, will he still stalk her in everyday life the way he did before, or will he finally breathe a sigh of relief and stop stalking?

This is a little complicated to answer without going too into Devyn’s psyche and potentially spoiling stuff. It’s also difficult because it really depends on a lot of factors.

I’ll just say that it’s not as simple as just obtaining a relationship. Devyn’s insecurities have impacted his life for a long time, so they can’t very easily go away.

Heyas~! This is my MC / OC that I wanted to show off regarding the universe of @squidcolas characters, lol

I'm pretty happy with how she came out (especially her picture, I'm actually very happy about it), so here's her info (for anyone who's curious).

💚 Personality:

I suck bad at these sections because there's lots of nuance a character can have, but here's my best shot at it. Lily, generally (depending on the person) tends to be a relatively chill person. There's not much that bothers her unless someone is objectively being a sleaze bag. She is creative and really interested in clothes making.

She seems irritated a lot (her bluntness doesn't help either depending on the situation), but she just has a serious case of RBF. Unfortunately, due to experiences with having less than ideal exes, she does not have much tolerance for people overriding her boundaries. While not opposed to romantic relationships, it's definitely not much of a priority for her like it was when she was (in her words), "young and dumb."

📗 Backstory:

Lily is actually a triplet---she has two other twin siblings. They have similar appearances, but don't look super identical. Their names are Danielle and Rosalind Foster. They were all adopted because their original parents couldn't afford to care for them. While not rich by any means, Lily and her sisters still grew up with a pretty decent childhood. Danielle grew up and joined a band as a lead guitarist, Rosalind ended up becoming an indie video game developer. Lily aspires to become a seamstress and sell the clothing she makes. She does kinda do it and has sold some stuff, but not at the level she wants to because she doesn't have enough money to pursue it.

However, Lily and her sisters have not had much luck in the love department---each of them having partners that just weren't the best. Some were cheaters, some straight up lied and manipulated, and others just put no effort into the relationships. It happened enough between the three of them that they called it "The Foster Girl Curse." Wanting to try achieving her dream, she moved away (but not too far away) from her family, landing herself a small studio apartment (which is the background you see in the photo).

Lily kinda just wants to focus on herself. Unfortunately...three guys clearly have other plans in mind...

Hopefully this gives more insight as to how she (at the current stage of her life) would look when paired with someone. I do hope this gives a better image of how she is as a person as well (sorry if it doesn't, lol)

Either way, once again, I'm pretty happy with how she turned out so far---but I can't promise she's immune to improvement down the line. Regardless, I hope you guys like her as much as I had fun drawing and making her.

Hihi!!! I just found out you have a tumblr and I'm so happy!!! I've been a big fan of IMI since 2023, it was the first yandere vn I played and I was obsessed with it!! Here's some old art of Devyn that I made back then,, I also have traditional art but I'll need to look for that later

Yeah I started posting here a couple of months ago, so it still feels a little new to me. I'm happy longtime fans of IMI are finding it!
