Miyu fidgeted with the sleeves of her dress as she watched Yeonjun and Beomgyu take pictures with Hoeseok, Jungkook, and Taehyung from afar. Being the only girl made her anxious. She didn’t know who to talk to, heck she was still a little jittery around BTS, even if they were in the same company.
Soobin noticed the girl hanging around by herself and approached her. “What’s wrong, Squish?” he asked while fixing his suit.
“I’m scared, Binnie. I’m the only girl here and I don’t know who to talk to,” she meekly confessed. “You guys seemed comfortable so I didn’t want to say anything...”
Soobin softly smiled before bending down to be eye–level with the girl. “It’s okay, you can come to us anytime,” he said while gently ruffling her hair. “And we both know BTS sunbaenim don’t bite. Jimin–sunbaenim called us babies in his V–LIVE.” he lightly joked, making Miyu giggle.
“Miyu–ssi, Jimin–ssi, and Jungkook–ssi, it’s time for your group photos!” the photographer called out.
Miyu froze. “It’s just me?!” she frantically whispered to Soobin, who tried to calm the flailing girl.
“Okay, breathe, Squish, breathe. You’ll be okay,” he reassured before gently nudging her towards the set.
Nervously padding over to where Jimin and Jungkook were standing, she smiled and greeted them. “Hello,” she automatically bowed out of habit.
Jimin and Jungkook chuckled at how adorable she was. “Ahh, you’re so cute,” Jimin cooed. “You don’t have to bow to us, it’s okay,” he added with a chuckle.
Quickly standing up straight again, she gave a flustered giggle and she sheepishly scratched the back of her head.
“It’s the maknae line,” Jungkook pointed out with a giggle. “Well, part of it.”
“Okay, let’s have Miyu–ssi stand in the front and Jimin–ssi and Jungkook–ssi can stand facing her,” the photographer called out to them. “Miyu–ssi, can you have a straight face on?”
Miyu nodded with a thumbs–up. Quickly getting into character, she gave the camera her best charismatic expression. Jimin and Jungkook were slightly taken aback from her quick shift in mood. Despite that, they had the proudest and adoring looks on their faces as they looked at her.
“That’s our Squishy!” Yeonjun yelled from behind the photographers. That caused literally her whole group to start cheering and yelling at her, which in turn caused Miyu to break her character slightly and she snorted out of embarrassment and amusement.
A few poses and some NG shots later, the three finished. Miyu immediately reverted back to the small, and somewhat shy person she was, making Jimin and Jungkook surprised again.
“Where’s the confident small bean from earlier?” Jungkook teased.
“Did I just get called small bean?” she incredulously asked. It’s like no one really called her by her real name in the company by this point.
“That’s our new nickname for you,” Jimin announced as he ruffled her hair. “Even though you’re only two inches shorter than me.”
She chuckled before dramatically flipping her hair over her shoulder. “The confident small bean’s still here.”
Hearing a snort and someone trying to stifle their laughter, she turned and noticed Beomgyu desperately trying not to make eye contact with her. She pouted. “Yah, Choi Beomgyu, what’s so funny?”
Beomgyu immediately fled the scene before Miyu could catch him. Miyu chased after him in her boots. “Hey! Come back here!”
Jimin and Jungkook stared after her before breaking out into giggles. “They’re so cute,” Jungkook mused before they both started running after Beomgyu and Miyu.
Running past Jin, he huffed. “Be careful you overgrown children!”
You’d think after living together for about two weeks, Beomgyu and Miyu would warm up to each other. Well...that wasn’t the case.
For the two weeks, Beomgyu hasn’t spoken a word to Miyu unless it was absolutely necessary. Because of that, Miyu genuinely thought Beomgyu disliked her, which in turn made her really quiet around him.
‘Oh my God, this is so awkward,’ she took a quick glance at the boy on the oppostite side of the couch. The two were the only ones at the dorm since the other three had extra lessons at the company. No words were exchanged; instead, the two opted to pass time on their phones.
Miyu cleared her throat as she stood up from the couch. Not talking for ages made her throat dry. As she walked towards the kitchen, she failed to notice the coffee table leg in her path. Taking another step, she felt a sharp pain on her pinky toe and let out a rather weird noise—a mix of a pained yelp and squeal. Bending down to hold her pinky toe in pain, she realized she must have smashed it against the table leg.
Beomgyu’s head snapped up at her pained yelp. He was surprised that she could make a noise like that. She always seemed so put together and calm. He couldn’t help but giggle.
Miyu stared at him. “Do you hate me so much that you’d laugh at my pain?” she quietly asked.
Beomgyu stopped giggling and cocked his head to the side like a confused puppy. “Hate? Who said I hated you?” he asked, slightly hurt that she thought so. Before she could answer, he shot up off the couch. “Hold on, I’ll get you an ice pack.”
Coming back a few minutes later from the kitchen, he handed her the ice pack wrapped in a hand towel. She gratefully accepted it and placed it on her toe. “Now,” he started as he sat on the floor in front of her, “why do you think I hate you?” he asked with a pout.
“Are you kidding me?” she incredulously asked. “Unless it was absolutely necessary, you never talked to me for the past two weeks,” she said before sighing. “Look, I get if you’re angry at the fact that I’m debuting with you all—”
The boy in front of her frantically shook his head. “No! I don’t hate you...” he fidgeted with the sleeves of his sweater. A moment of silence passed. “...I just got intimidated,” he quietly confessed.
Miyu blinked as she processed his words. “...Eh?”
The tips of Beomgyu’s ears turned red as he explained. “I’m just shy around new people in general, but the fact that you’re so experienced already as an idol made me more intimidated...and it didn’t help that you looked so serious all the time so...”
Miyu sheepishly chuckled. “Is my resting face that scary?” she asked.
Beomgyu waved his hands in front of him. “No, that’s not what I meant—”
“I’m joking, I’m joking,” she hastily reassured. “I’ve just had a lot on my mind these days about debuting,” she confessed.
“...Are you nervous?”
“A little. I guess rather than nervous about the debut itself, I’m just worried about people’s reactions to me in the group.” Before she knew it, she was spilling out her concerns to the boy in front of her. “My former group disbanded almost two years ago, too, so I’m just anxious about people’s reactions to me debuting in another group so soon.”
Beomgyu intently listened to her concerns. It turned out that despite the calmness she exuded, she was just anxious and nervous.
“If your fans are real fans, then they’d support you in any decision you make,” he said, surprising Miyu. “As much as fans are important, don’t be controlled by their opinions. You’re a human, too. You should be able to have a say in what you want to pursue.”
Miyu was surprised by the heartfelt advice. Nonetheless, she felt slightly comforted by his words. “Thanks, Beomgyu. You’re actually really good at giving advice.”
Beomgyu feigned a hurt look. “Did you think I couldn’t?”
“You’re always so playful, so it’s new seeing this side of you,” she explained. “But seriously, thanks. You took a lot of weight off my shoulders.
Beomgyu grinned. “No problem!” he said, looking adorable in his oversized cardigan.
“Does this mean you’re not scared of me anymore?” she teasingly asked, laughing at the light blush that adorned his cheeks.
“Psh! Scared of you? Since when?” he played it off.
“Your words, not mine.”
“...You’re never letting this go, are you?” he asked.
“Oh, definitely,” she smirked, yelping when she Beomgyu threw her hoodie on her head and tightened the pull strings, making the hoodie scrunch over her face. “Hey!”
Beomgyu’s laughter bounced around the dorms. “Payback!” he childishly retorted.
The front door opened and the four other boys were met with the sight of Beomgyu playing around with Miyu’s hoodie. The two immediately turned their attention to the four boys staring at them from the front door.
Miyu sheepishly chuckled. “Hi, guys,” she greeted with the hoodie still scrunched over her face.
“Are you guys finally talking now?” Taehyun asked. “Let me just say, it was really awkward for the past two weeks.” The others nodded in agreement.
Beomgyu wrapped an arm around her shoulder. “We’re friends now!” he showed off, making Miyu chuckle at his child–like behavior.
“Squishy, just a warning,” Yeonjun said, “he’s really talkative when he gets comfortable. It’s like he’s a different person.”
Beomgyu gasped. “Wait, does that mean I can call you Squishy, too?” he asked with eager eyes.
Miyu shrugged. “I mean...they all call me that already,” she gestured to Yeonjun, Soobin, Taehyun, and Kai, “so yeah, I guess so.” Beomgyu cheered, making everyone burst into more laughter.
“You’d never guess who was older between them,” Hueningkai joked.
when miyu comforts the members who cry at their debut showcase.
♡ masterlist
Watching the VCR of themselves talking before they officially debuted, Miyu was already emotional. Memories of everything started playing through her mind like a recording—the intense trainings, meeting the five boys, and even her time as an idol in Japan.
To be honest, Miyu was a little afraid of debuting again—especially under the company that housed BTS, and especially in a group that was all male members. She was afraid of comments she’d receive from people in and out of Korea. Especially from her fanbase in Japan. Would I be seen in a positive or negative light? For the fact that I debuted again after my old group disbanded.
Thoughts like those always circulated in her head. Although she decided to continue to pursue her dream in Korea, there was always that tiny fear in her heart.
Before she knew it, they finished their first debut recording.
Seeing the older members tearing up, she plastered on her best smile and comforted them. Beomgyu, who was next to her, sniffled quietly and covered his face to hide his tears.
“Aiya, Gyu,” she lightly teased as she wrapped her arms around him. “I’m already holding in my own tears and you’re going to make me cry,” she quietly mumbled, her voice slightly wavering. Beomgyu reciprocated her hug and gently patted her back.
“Congratulations!” the staff cheered as one staff member came out with a cake. They sang a celebratory song for TXT’s debut.
Miyu’s quivered into a pout and she looked up to compose herself and force her tears away. Yeonjun noticed and wrapped an arm around her shoulder to comfort her.
“Miyu–ah? Are you okay?” a BigHit staff member asked.
Miyu softly smiled before covering her face, her tears finally breaking free. “Ahhhh—I told myself not to cry today,” she sniffled.
Yeonjun tearily laughed as he brought the girl into a comforting hug. “Aigo, Squishy’s crying,” he cooed as he rocked from side to side. “And Soobin, too,” he pointed out.
By that point, half of the group was a crying mess, with the exception of Taehyun and Hueningkai. As emotional as they were like the others, they decided to show a more happy side and comfort the crying members.
Receiving a tissue from a staff member, Miyu gently wiped her tears. Kai gently ruffled her hair to help her calm down while Taehyun comfortingly rubbed her back. “Smile,” Kai playfully demanded. Although the girl was sniffling, she gave Kai and Taehyun a small smile.
Taehyun laughed and poked her nose. “Now you look like Rudolph. Your nose can pass for his,” he teased. Kai laughed at Taehyun’s teasing.
“If it weren’t for our debut, I would’ve strangled the both of you,” Miyu teased. Kai mischeviously stuck his tongue out before running off with Taehyun.
“Okay, everyone, let’s go back to the waiting room,” their manager announced as he handed Soobin a tissue.
Beomgyu grasped onto Miyu’s sleeve as they walked back to their waiting room. Miyu chuckled when she saw Soobin covering his crying face from the cameras in the hall. She gave the camera a small wave before settling on the couch next to Soobin.
She wrapped her arms around the boy. “Bunny’s still crying,” she pointed out with a small laugh. Soobin just covered his face and buried himself deeper into her hug. Miyu handed him a tissue.
“W-We debuted,” Soobin sniffed, his face scrunching up again as new tears fell from his eyes.
Laughing, everyone gathered around to comfort their crying leader. Miyu, her arms still around the boy, rested her head on his shoulder. “I hope those are happy tears, Binnie,” she joked.
Soobin whined back incoherently as a response. Miyu and the others burst out into louder laughter, tears from earlier forgotten. Even the staff members were slightly chuckling.
“That’ll definitely be a meme,” Taehyun commented, noticing the camera still filming them.
Beomgyu mimicked Soobin’s whine in hopes of making Soobin laugh, which he succeeded.
“I did not sound like that.” he tearily retorted. “Did I?”
“Watch the video when it airs, Bunny,” Miyu said as she wiped the tears in the corner from her eyes—although this time, they were from laughing too much.
“Isn’t that Miyu?” Jungkook asked when he and others walked past an occupied dance practice room. “Our only female trainee?”
The seven boys crowded by the door to peek through the tiny window. A girl was sitting on the floor, back facing to them as she seemed to be watching a choreography video since she was following along with her arms. “I think so,” Jin said. However, he lost his balance while leaning on Yoongi and he fell onto the door.
Suddenly hearing a loud thump on the door, Miyu looked up from her video recording and turned around to nervously face the door. Since the window slit was quite small, she had to squint to try to identify the people outside.
Namjoon sighed. “Well, we might as well go in,” he said before opening the door. The seven boys loudly entered the practice room.
Miyu almost fainted—both from shock at the sudden noise and from the fact that it was BTS. She politely bowed and greeted them. Despite being in BigHit for almost two years, she’s never seen BTS up close until then. They all sat down in a circle.
“You’re Miyu, right? The one that debuted in Japan?” Yoongi curiously asked.
Miyu nodded. “That’s me,” she said, pointing to herself. Jin laughed at her gesture.
“And at seven years old...that’s a young age to debut,” Namjoon added as he mulled over that fact.
“Does that make her our sunbae?” Hoseok jokingly asked. “She debuted before we did.”
Miyu frantically shook her head. “No, no, no! I really don’t consider myself a sunbae here!” she explained, waving her hands in front of her.
The seven boys laughed. “We’re teasing, don’t worry,” Jin ruffled her hair, “If I didn’t adopt six boys already, I’d adopt you,” he teased.
Miyu giggled.
“What were you doing in here?” Yoongi asked before realizing how weird his question was. “I mean, I know we’re in a dance practice room but...”
“I was actually learning Black Swan...” Miyu shyly replied. “It’s no where near as good but—”
She was interrupted by the boys’ excited and fascinated shouts and hoots. “Can we see?” Taehyung asked, his eyes sparkling in wonder.
Miyu hesitated.
“Think of us as your teachers,” Jimin suggested. “We won’t laugh, I swear,” he promised.
She reluctantly agreed and got up to plug her phone to the speaker in the corner of the room. Pressing the play button, the familiar melody of Black Swan blasted through the room. Taking a deep breath, she noticed the seven pairs of eyes analyzing her every move.
However, contrary to her worries, they were all amazed at how fluid and smooth her moves were. And how relaxed she seemed compared to a few moments ago. They silently watched until Miyu stopped after the first chorus.
“Um...that’s all I learned so far,” she meekly mumbled. She awkwardly shuffled in her spot when no one said anything.
Jimin clapped for her with a smile on his face. Eventually, the others snapped back to reality and clapped as well.
“That was really good. And you only started learning yesterday?” Namjoon asked, slightly baffled by how fast she manages to learn. Miyu nodded with a giggle.
“And she was worried it wasn’t good,” Jungkook lightly teased with his bunny smile. “If you didn’t tell me you only started this yesterday, I would’ve thought you already spent a few days on it.”
Miyu smiled at his their compliments. “Thank you!”
“Come to think of it, you’re debuting soon, right? With TXT?” Jin asked. “Have you met the boys yet?”
She nodded. “I met them a few weeks ago.”
“How are they? You can be honest with us,” he teased, his older brother side peeking out. Everyone chuckled at his jab.
“They’re all really nice! But uh...” she trailed off, the BTS members staring at her expectantly, “they’re all really tall,” she slightly pouted.
Taking a moment to process her adorable complaint, they all bursted out into laughter.
“Aigo, she’s so cute!” Taehyung slightly squealed with his adorable box smile.
“I know what that feels like,” Jimin sympathized. “But the smaller you are, the fiercer you are,” he playfully reassured with a pat on her arm.
“He isn’t wrong, you’re fierce when you dance,” Hoseok commented. “You might rank first in the dance evaluation this month!”
Miyu nervously chuckled. “Well...Yeonjun’s going to be pissed.”
“Would calling her sunbae be weird?” Taehyun wondered.
The five boys were currently gathered in a meeting room, waiting for the staff to bring in the new female member.
That addition happened to be Miyu—a really famous trainee in and out of BigHit. According to rumors they’ve heard, Miyu already debuted in an idol group in Japan, but the group disbanded at the end of 2016.
Hearing the door click open, the five boys straightened themselves as they brought their attention to the people entering the room. Miyu shyly peeked at them from behind a staff member.
“Boys, this is Miyu,” the staff member introduced as she gently nudged Miyu forward. Miyu and the boys politely bowed to each other. “We’ll leave you guys alone to get to know one another.” she said before leaving the room with the other staff.
An awkward silence covered the room as Miyu took a seat across from the five curious boys. She played with the hem of her hoodie, too anxious to say anything. However, when she gets shy and quiet, she unconsciously displays her resting face—which looks a little blank and mean.
“Can you speak Korean?” Taehyun quietly asked in English, startling Miyu and the others. He figured he’d ask since she lived in Japan for her whole life.
“I–I’m half Korean...” Miyu responded in Korean, a little flustered.
Beomgyu tried to hold in his laughter at Taehyun’s embarassed expression. Yeonjun quietly snickered as he pat the younger’s back.
“Ah...it’s okay. I get that question a lot,” Miyu tried reassuring.
“Is it true you already debuted in Japan?” Kai eagerly asked.
Miyu nodded. “I used to be part of a group in Japan before we disbanded.”
“When did you debut?” Yeonjun asked.
Miyu thought back as she counted the years. “In 2009...so when I was seven years old.”
The boys gaped. They didn’t remember what they were doing at the age of seven, but it for sure wasn’t being in the spotlight and performing in an official group.
“S–Seven years old?!” Soobin stuttered. “That’s so...young.”
Miyu was used to the reactions she received when she revealed her debut year and age. She inwardly chuckled—they practically looked like fishes with their eyes that wide and opened mouths.
“So does that mean you’ve already experienced most of the idol life?” Beomgyu quietly asked. It was the first words he’s spoken since she came in.
The boys intently stared at her, waiting for her answer.
“I suppose I have,” she finally said. “Concerts, photoshoots, music video shoots. I’ve done them all,” she casually said—casual as if she was talking about the weather.
However, seeing the boys’ sparkling eyes made her slightly smile. They were like little boys in a candy shop. Why are they so adorable?
“Storytime?” she asked, quietly chuckling when they all eagerly nodded.
Time quickly passed as Miyu recounted her experiences as an idol in Japan. She slowly started to relax and loosen up around them as she talked.
The staff member came back to check on them, but seeing the six of them comfortably interacting, she a small smile spread across her face. Letting go of the door handle, she quietly chuckled. “I told her she had nothing to worry about.”
miyu was born in osaka, japan to a korean father and a japanese mother. living in japan, they often visited their paternal relatives in south korea—ultimately making makoto and miyu fluent in both japanese and korean.
at age five and seven, makoto and miyu were child models in japan signed under avex entertainment. although already signed to the company, she participated in a tv show hosted by avex that would determine the lineup for their upcoming group. miyu qualified as a finalist, and eventually made it into the lineup. later in the year, she made her debut in a group called dream5—she was the youngest at seven years old. she stuck with the group until they disbanded at the end of 2016.
two months later, she was scouted by a bighit staff member while visiting family in korea. deciding to take another shot at her dream, she became bighit’s only female trainee and debuted with five boys, their group name being tomorrow by together.
your toddler txt reminded me of that one time hongjoong from ateez was live and a fan asked if he'd rather have 5 y/o 99z or 5 times the 99z and you could see him age 50 years on camera 😂
okok but I just read somewhere that yeonjun is an only child but has always wanted a younger sibling and I just imagine him with yeseul and hyukai and yes that is all thank you for listening to my ted talk (but imagine how he treats them ಢ_ಢ)
ma’am, you got me all soft and i just woke up (T ^ T) that is a crime
updated!
but yeonjun literally just spoils the both of them, it’s so adorable. hyuka and yeseul already act like siblings so it makes it all the better for him. also have you seen the videos of yeonjun and kai? yeonjun literally stares at kai with so much affection :((
with yeseul, he just kind of lets her do whatever she wants—within boundaries, of course. piggy back rides, playing with his hair, squishing his cheeks; he just lets her do it since it makes her happy :(( like during a fansign, yesuel tied his front hair into like a little palm tree and he didn’t have the heart to take it out so he kept it in the whole time.
and he’s always poking their cheeks, or just having some form of skinship with them most of the time. hugs, holding hands, arms around shoulders, head rubs, etc. since yeseul’s shorter than all of them by like heads, he loves ruffling her hair and just putting his hands on her shoulders and following her around like a duckling 🥺🥺🥺
and he’s always looking out for them. like making sure they’re healthy, or if they fall or something, he’s the first on the scene to make sure they didn’t actually injure themselves with their antics.
but of course, there’s the teasing—all out of affection. yeseul’s height is definitely a topic fisjdjsjdj. he loves taking her phone and just holding it above his head. then squeals whenever yeseul tries any method possible to reach that height. pout, and he’ll break. of course, hyuka and yeseul retaliate like actual younger siblings, it’s hilarious.
hyuka and yeseul are literally the softest around yeonjun :(( like hyuka always clings to yeonjun and he always makes him laugh :(( and yeseul always shares her snacks with him and he just melts. but of course, their devil sides sometimes comes out and they love pranking yeonjun—
in conclusion, soft older brother!yeonjun and younger siblings!hyuka and yeseul. yeonjun genuinely considers the both of them his younger brother and sister and will do anything to keep them happy :((
