First of all, I will heavily discourage you from asking these questions to Ukrainians. Like, may I be the first and the last one.
Because it's always the same thing: we're constantly interrogated on our opinions on russians, always judged for not liking the "good russians" enough or being simply mistrustful of all of them, cause, surprise-surprise, they give us all the reasons and then some.
Like really, stop purposely triggering us for no reason.
But what about nuance, you'll say.
So far I only see people using the word when a Ukrainian is trying to process their emotions about being genocided live in front of everyone's eyes and no one giving a fuck about itĀÆā \ā _ā (ā Ā Ķ”ā Ā°ā Ā Ķā Źā Ā Ķ”ā Ā°ā )ā _ā /ā ĀÆ
Like, no. A victim is not supposed to be "nuanced". Searching for "good ordinary russians" is directly tied to an existential threat for me. I literally have to listen in when I hear russian language while studying abroad to make sure I understand where those people are actually from and whether I'm under a threat.
Do I theoretically know that there are "good russians" out there? Sure. The ones fighting for Ukraine, I'm plenty grateful to those, for example.
And still, I will never, perhaps for the rest of my existence, feel completely safe around a random russian.
A Ukrainian has every single right to hate all and every russian right now, no matter how good or bad they are. Hatred and aggression are normal reactions to having your life constantly under attack.
(keep in mind that by a russian I mean a political nation and not the ethnicity ā I know many ethnic russians living, working and fighting for Ukraine and I have absolutely nothing against them. If anything, they tend to hate russia too, surprise surprise)
We might rethink our opinions after russia falls into micro-states and pays thoroughly for what it's done to us. Some might not, and they will be within their right to do so.
Secondly, to even answer your question, one would need to answer a more important question: what constitutes a russian supporting Ukraine? Because we currently live in a situation when simply saying you are "against war" is nowhere near enough. Does this hypothetical russian still live in russia and pay taxes there? What have they done to support Ukraine?
Because with russians, it's always "ambiguous".
For example, a "liberal" russian may claim to be pro-Ukrainian, live abroad and even donate to some Ukrainian organisations, but be against giving military support to Ukraine, because it "prolongs the war" and harms "their precious boys" (those whom normal people call murderers and occupiers). Or they might be an imperialist who is fundamentally against russia falling apart and quitting its imperial ambitions.
It's like a joke at this point: if you want to see a russians' mask fall off, ask them about Crimea and the occupied territories. Ask them about the liberation of the Caucasus and other colonised territories. Ask them about the Holodomor and whether it even existed, for fuck's sake.
So, short answer: I approve of any and all support Ukraine can get. What I am also saying is that simply saying you support Ukraine as a russian will not be nearly enough to "buy" my trust, because supporting Ukraine is not even a bare minimum, it's a baseline normal opinion. Anything else in this situation is literally inhumane. The bar is in hell.
Also, searching for "good russians" undermines the Ukrainian cause. Those russians truly supporting Ukraine would also be fully against using them to undermine the genocide of Ukrainians and the russian imperialism.
Finally, I sometimes hate the so-called liberal russians that come to whine to Ukrainians about how innocent they are more than actual vatniks. At least they don't pretend not to despise my existence.
If you think I'm acting aggressive... well, I couldn't sleep at night because there was a drone attack on my region and my brain was too busy calculating whether I'll survive if I sleep, and then I couldn't fall asleep afterwards.
