It's all very hypothetical because I'm unsure if things will align well but if they do, I may be able to post what I've been working on next week (likely during the weekend).

I want to premise, though, that it's something that will be divided in parts. What I'd be posting would be the first part of others, so please be patient and don't worry right away.

I don't know how popular or not this is of a take but I personally hope the topic of Madeleine's father/other parent never gets touched in the sense that he doesn't have one. I personally don't think Madeleine needs a father nor another parent figure.

Madeleine grew up loved not only by his mother but also his aunties. He grew up surrounded by love (which considering the totality of CRK's cast it's quite a rarity). Maybe it's because I've re-read beastars recently and it made me realise one of the points I love the most in the story is that the absence of one of the parental figures doesn't have to be important when the character has been loved so deeply by the parental figure present in their lives and their family.

I don't remember if this holds any point in canon but since they're cookies, they get made with dough and baked so I'm assuming that it wouldn't be too far fetched for Grand Madeleine to have made Madeleine out of her dough alone (especially since it's hinted that she's physically strong, so it could be possible but I'm just speculating at this point).

This is not to criticise anyone who has thought of possible theories about the hypothetical other parent figure or has made headcanons in that regard of course! Just a personal preference on my end. It's so rare to have characters coming from a single parent family whose story doesn't revolve other the "missing part" of their family, it'd be refreshing if Madeleine fit in the different category.

I’m taking the chance to share more than one because I’m feeling chatty today

Madeleine doesn’t like to expose his body. Sure, he is proud of and takes the most meticolous care of it but he does NOT want to expose it unless there is a reason for it such as beach/pool trip. As a result, he has the most extensive collection of linen pajamas so he can wear long pants and sleeves even when it’s very hot outside. If temperatures reach 30C/86F at night he may expose elbows or knees. Meanwhile Butter Roll won’t be using a shirt the second it’s early spring and even in winter will likely have half sleeves (he runs on higher temperature). Espresso looks normal by default next to the two (long sleeves+pants in winter, shorts and short sleeves in summer).

Madeleine puts on hand cream religiously every night and begun to do so for Espresso and Butter Roll too since the two have very rough hands due to working in the lab.

Espresso is perfecting a coffee blend with a rounder taste (mostly arabica) so Madeleine would have less issues with drinking it sugarless and milk-less (he never forced him to drink it bitter but Madeleine wants to).

Espresso will randomly cuss in italian if he’s angry enough. No, he won’t translate the insults he uses. (I may do in his stead even if just for context's sake).

Each of them has their favourites things to buy at the grocery store. Espresso fills the cart with sweet snacks and Butter Roll with cheese (he eats so much cheese). Meanwhile Madeleine may be a sweet tooth but he is extremely firm when buying groceries. He is the one buying the proper ingredients and such and may eye one chocolate oat milk only to say no treats and moving on. Espresso and Butter Roll fill the cart with his favourite snacks when he’s not watching.

Butterleine and Espresseleine for romantic ships have me in a chokehold as well as butterspresseleine but with the Espressoroll as platonic/QPR. Also Butter Roll and Matcha friendship aaaand KouignMatchaSeaweed (with Choco drizzle and Plum Juice in tow, Kouign has many hands).

P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas).

I don’t know if this counts for an AU but long long time ago (last summer, I believe) I wrote a bit of a switcheroo alternate universe (which well, yes, AU but it borrows parts from canon world so idk how much of an AU it can be) which would be set in the universe of Sage of Truth.

While I know that Espresso’s costume is his ceremonial vestments, I really like how it looked next to Crimson Knight, so wrote a light magic user Espresso who perfected his coffee magic with light magic to be next to Crimson Knight.

These are very old so forgive the mistakes but well :’>

Main points that I had written down are:

Whereas Madeleine is friend with Shadow Milk in the “regular” universe, in this one Espresso is friend with Sage. Crimson Knight is, however, rather close to Truthless Recluse.

Crimson Knight uses crimson magic but is not evil at all.

Crimson is far more level headed and cautios than Espresso who, instead, loves to experiment a little too much with combining coffee magic and light magic.

…and yes, there was meant to be a plot point about Madeleine accidentally reaching that universe and meeting light mage Espresso who at first thought of using him to stir Crimson’s jealousies but halfway through it, upon realising how much Madeleine cares for his own Espresso, he backed away. Sadly that did not stop Crimson from being genuinely mad at Madeleine’s presence and punching him through a portal back into his own universe.

While I still think fondly of these two and like to keep them in my thoughts I don’t know if I’ll ever do something more with them since I don’t think they’re that much interesting all in all but well, we’ll see. There's other AU ideas I'd like to elaborate more, one being an angel/demon one but I didn't have art for that so I went with this instead.

Licorice is a great character who deserves his time to shine more than being left as a simple comic relief. Granted I may be missing knoweledge on some of his scenes because I’ve never been very focused on him but the moment at the end of the dark enchantress war made me gain a whole lot of respect for him. He showcased a genuine and kind heart that deserves more screentime. (Genuinely apologies Licorice, I wasn’t familiar with your game)

O - Choose a song at random. Which ship or character does it remind you of?

I was just listening to Sweet by Faulty and John Kenza (feat. PegasYs) which is a very Espresseleiene song to me, specifically Espresso talking about his feelings for Madeleine.

V - Which character do you relate to most?

This is an hard one because I don’t doubt I pour a sprinkle of me when I write certain faves or certain aspects of them resonate with me but relating…that’s a bit different. It’s certainly a tie between Sea Fairy and Sugarfly. I never talk about it much but they’re incredibly important characters to me: Sea Fairy’s deep and strong feelings make me feel less ashamed to be an extremely emotional (driven) person and Sugarfly’s self-binding for reaching an ideal of beauty she desired only to stifle herself and to be actually free once she embraced what her wings could help her do never fails to make me tear up if I think of it a little too much.

E - Have you added anything cracky/hilarious to your fandom? If so, what?

UUUUUH…I don’t know if this counts but it still cracks me up :’D

M - Name a character that you’d like to have for a friend.

May be a cliché answer but definitively Madeleine. I’d love to go see monuments or museums/art galleries with him. A breakfast out with him on a saturday followed by shopping and then a night out would heal me, I think.

That said, I’d def love to have a drink with Butter Roll, too. Also the two of them would be wonderful gym buddies.

Oookay, apologies for the slight complaints at first and second point! So-

1) I wish there was less hastiness in judging the story’s writing/developments generally. As dissatisfying certain aspects of CRK’s story are, at the core it’s a game that relies on timed updates and that type of distribution penalises the writing enormously considering we’re talking of monthly updates with a smaller second update in the middle. Add the large cast of characters to that and it explains why certain choices end up being executed poorly more often than not (some updates have done better than others yes, but overall I’d consider those exceptions and not the rule). I am not happy with a lot of choices regarding the plot either but judging every single update as if it should tie all loose ends is just counterproductive and only fuels frustration, imho.

2) This is not exclusive to the CRK fandom but generally fandom etiquette has been long lost and believe me it does save you a great deal of headaches.

3) Fandom made music! Maybe it’s because am used to other fandoms that have a lot of musicians in them but it feels a bit of a pity that CRK doesn’t have many remixes/compositions.
