Okay, this gif of Aaron will forever be my favorite. Wanna know why? When I’m reading a book, fanfic, whatever, and they use the expression “his eyes softened”, I always see it a certain way. In this gif, you can actually see his eyes softening, and his expression goes from almost pissed to smiling. And it’s beautiful in its entirety. I just had to share.

we’ve all heard of the iconic Spencer Reid/Emily Prentiss/Derek Morgan trio and the David Rossi/Aaron Hotchner/Emily Prentiss trio, but what about the Emily Prentiss/Derek Morgan/Aaron Hotchner trio? the ultimate alpha (fe)male friend group? you’ll get sassed out of your own ass if you get too close? the Biggest Dick energy in the FBI that you’ll become a bottom just by entering the goddamn room? backing each other up? kickin down doors? the Spencer Reid Defense Squad?

At some point in time, Garcia, Morgan, and Reid were all hanging out in Garcia's office, chilling while Garcia goes through cat videos and memes, when one of them finds the yOU TOUCHA MY SPAGHET, which plays really loudly, followed by Garcia saying Oh my god its Rossi, sparking a half hour of uncontrollable laughter and renders the agents useless. Hotch finds them and has no clue how to deal. Rossi has seen the video about six times and loves it.

I need a Hotch to play with so much.

Dave and Aaron’s relationship is so beautifully complex. Dave and Jason started the BAU, when Aaron got accepted to that awful bunker years later, I think he was a bit of a fan boy.

I say that because even in the pilot, you can see that moment … he’s supposed to report on Gideon… something in him crumples.

Dave and Jason were legends. It was their blood and sweat, their alternatively ignoring or arguing against (watch Mindhunter) everything that the FBI threw at them to get the BAU going. They invented it.

And this is what Hotch got to join, worked to join, wanted to be a part of. Dave and Jason were his mentors.

And now he’s technically Dave’s boss. And we see from Dave’s episode one that Aaron has zero fear calling Dave out, because Aaron is good and he knows he’s good and by the rules he’s Dave’s boss, so he has to have that conversation.

We never see that again. We see some dances that involve it but they both know what they’re doing. Hotch is Dave’s boss, but Dave is Hotch’s mentor. It’s a uniquely bizarre relationship. ((See: Demonology)).
