Are you traveling over the holiday break? Make sure you are prepared! 1. Do you have a valid travel signature on your I-20? Check page 3 of your I-20, a signature from a DSO is valid for one year Note: Students on OPT new a new travel signature every 6 months 2. Has your visa expired? If your visa is expired and you are traveling (except to Canada, Mexico and the adjacent islands to the U.S.) you will need a new visa to re-enter the U.S. 3. Is your Passport Valid? Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you enter or apply for a new visa 4. Are you registered for next quarter or have you applied for a vacation quarter? Students are encouraged to register for the next quarter or apply for a vacation quarter, if eligible, with the International Programs Office prior to travel Remember SANTA: Sign the Form I-20 – Have your DSO Sign for Travel Apply for a visa renewal or new passport if your documents have expired Never put your I-20 in your checked luggage. Carry it with you on the plane Travel with all required documents Assign an emergency phone number.
