Venturing into the unknown

One of the most exciting things on my Route 66 road trip was to meet an abstract photographer and to hear more about the art.

I need to spend much more time on it, but I did try it a few times during the trip. it is incredibly hard. You need to move the camera ever so slightly and yet use it as a paintbruch.

I took this picture of a derelict building with some wonderful and colourful weeds surrounding it. I really like how it came out and it has inspired me to learn more about this area of photography as an alternative. I can see many fun (and frustrating) hours ahead.

What I love about cities is the amount of sensory experiences all around - I was only in Chicago for a few hours, but I managed to see, hear and smell some great stuff.

So much eye-candy in Canton, even if I was only able to stay for a short time. I must make a plan to go and explore properly in the near future.

A trip to help my sister clear one of her storage rooms. Lots of hard work, but was able to enjoy the surroundings at the same time. Her storage is at a psychiatric hospital, but the place is amazing. Full of green spaces and old pretty buildings. It was also Sankt Hans Aften (midsummer night), which to me signifies that summer has arrived. It is named after John the Baptist. Large bonfires are light on the beaches to ward off witches and general evil. The Danes of course don't miss an opportunity to sing and we have a dedicated song for just this day ("Vi elsker vort land").

Summer in Denmark brings back a lot of childhood memories! Rainy days followed by the most amazing sun and blue skies. People out and about strolling in the habour drinking a cold beer, eating open sandwiches and ice cream.

A recent trip back home to Copenhagen - didn't get enough time to really wander, but discovered a few little gems including lunch at Kronborg.

One of the things I love about living in Ohio is the remnant of a time when industry was thriving. There are some amazing run down buildings on our doorstep. Just wish it was easier to get inside to explore...

Winter continues here in Ohio. Most days the novelty has definitely worn off, but then there is suddenly a day where I wake up to the most beautiful blue sky. The sunlight and freezing temperatures makes it a mesmerizing day and I fall in love with winter all over again.

Gourds - even better when they are going off!

I spent hours yesterday playing with my camera and three little gourds. Much harder to photograph than I had expected, but great fun. I am loving the patterns.

Madrid, Spain - Day 1 One of my favorite cities in Europe. There is such a fantastic sense of pure unashamed passion for food, drinks, socializing and outdoor living. Wherever you go there is a little bar or eatery with groups of people taking their time and watching the world go by. Why is it considered lazy to enjoy life???
