911 09x08 (aka kind of a mess)
i'm not gonna say i hated the episode, but i'm not gonna say i loved it.
the premise started out pretty well. Hen and Chim's rift, introducing the AI. it seemed fine... then it didn't.
my thoughts on Hen and her illness are: it's fucked. they are making Hen more of a victim than she actually is. she could have gotten herself and everyone else killed by not telling at least Chim. it's selfish on her part. [don't even get me started on how her "what about me" grief storyline was clearly what they started doing with Buck but then dropped it after the space shit]
Chim being treated like a bad captain is horrific. he's doing almost everything Bobby would have done. Bobby would have let Hen go. Bobby would have stood his ground with it.
now something more positive. they actually remembered Eddie and his PTSD. it was almost like Eddie talking to himself in season 5 for the whole vet in the store scene. i wouldn't say it was a fantastic scene, but it was certainly something that actually got some normal emotions out of me.
back to the negative. they made AI far too human. Maddie should have told it to "slay the monster" because it's not real. I'm glad it was shown to be incredibly harmful and that it has no place in first-responding, but it should have been treated like an it and not a she. i did love that Maddie smashed the drive afterwards though.
now the intervention. i like that they had Alex (the SMART lady) there as a mediator but they didn't really use her in the way that mattered. it felt like they almost go nowhere but then managed to get everywhere by Hen passing out again(?). i'm so happy they're trying to make them family again, but it feels odd that they have to basically kill Hen to get there. death shouldn't be what holds them together.
i had fun with the emergencies and the anti Ai of it all.
i do also want to quickly say that i liked Buddie bickering. i have missed them
