It helps differentiate them from villains who aren't self aware enough to realize that they're doing something evil or harmful to those around them. It's nice to have a g1 Megatron every once in a while. They're so unapologetically evil that they HAVE TO know, and still don't give a shit that it's just refreshing, and I'm not just talking about having agent of chaos villains, ones with absolutely no reason to be the way that they are, are some of my favorites. Sure having a sympathetic villain is cool, but god fucking damnit I'm not supposed to empathize with fucking SPACE HITLER
