just noticed that scully’s headstone seen in season two quotes 1 john 5:7 “the spirit is the truth”

in common christian theology, the holy spirit is the advocate/teacher/power force/‘scientist’ in her case, who is known for showing love/compassion/understanding/patience. in their universe, scully IS the spirit and therefore is the truth.

it was her who showed mulder proof of extraterrestrials and government conspiracies because of her willingness to help him. her version of “the truth” was different from mulder’s, but she was still 100% by his side every time because she believed in his cause and she was able to understand his grief and guide him through it. she was the force behind his belief and passion.

not only did she guide him to the closure of “my sister is missing, either the government or aliens (or both) have to do with it” but also his dilemma of “i crave human connection but i don’t feel like i deserve it because i’m a paranoid basement dweller” because she was willing to understand him.

I was inspired by that one Wordgirl Homelander comic (?) and it made me go like "what if she were evil" Anyways horrific thought but what if she started picking her villains off one by one? Lowk think Tobey would be the first victim and that the Dr. could manage to evade her for years till she got him (Big C [Big Chuck] would die sometime in between, Granny May relatively early, Mr. Big sometime before Two Brains)
