Sidney Crosby taking care of sick!fem!reader <3
Hey guys I'm back! This week is my spring break so I am kind of busy, but I am working on these stories during what free time I have! If you like this, consider following me and even commenting on this post! I am new here and would love to make some new friends! Anywho, this drabble is just over 500 words, I hope you enjoy!
Warnings: fluff, pet names, Sidney being a man, nothing else tho tbh
After coming home early from work and laying down immediately, you woke up when you heard Sidney coming in the front door. “Sid? Is that you?” you asked, barely coherent. You had entirely forgotten that he was coming over that day.
“Hey kid, I’m home, what’s up?” Sidney called out, immediately clocking that something was off with you. Once he reached the couch and saw what state you were in, he melted. Seeing you with your work clothes on, hair still up, glasses discarded with your purse on the ground, hurt him. He couldn’t even care that your shoes were on the couch, he saw what pain you were in.
“Hey hon, let's get you to the bed, shall we?” he softly asked, and swept you into his arms once you gave him a weak nod. He carried you all the way to the bedroom with a care that you hadn’t felt from anyone ever. You were still sort of early into dating Sidney, but he showed that he was a gentleman the moment you met him.
He helped you get into your pajamas and insisted you lay in bed while he made you some tea and chicken noodle soup. You protested at first, but eventually gave into being taken care of and doted on by your boyfriend. He brought you your laptop, phone, glasses, books, and turned the TV on to a quiet channel you liked, one of those old quilting shows. After bringing you your food, Sidney went straight into the bathroom connected to your room to change into some pajamas he had left there before. You were slightly shocked that he was climbing into bed with you, interrupting his rigid routine, just to be with you. With his big hands, he gently felt your forehead, making sure you weren’t burning up. “Feeling any better now, hon?” he asked, as he brought his hand down, tracing your jawline. You leaned into his touch, “yeah, a little bit. I’m glad you’re here, Sid,” you gave him a small smile, which would have made Sidney’s knees go weak if he was not already sitting down.
You and Sid stayed still for a few hours, him reading his book and checking on you every so often, and you trying to stay awake enough to do some sudoku. You opened your eyes slowly and turned to him, “y’know what would be crazy,” you began to say, knowing that he already knew what you were going to propose. “Wanna order food?” He basically finished your sentence for you. “How did you know? I’ve been wanting to try out that new salad place near here,” you said, actively pulling up your DoorDash account. “Oh, woman. You really know how to get me.”
Sidney was always calling you names like that, it made you feel mature, adult, real. He added his order to yours, and put in his card details, and y’all got the food in just under an hour.
The normal routine of your apartment had changed that evening, getting in bed at 6:30, eating dinner in bed, and having Sidney there to take care of you was not a luxury that you indulged in often, but when he was there and you could turn off your brain, it was nice. Although you still felt ill, with a headache and some beginnings of a cough, you had Sidney there and knew that you would be alright.
