My heart is bursting as I watch #theworldwewant Makers create and launch walls around the world. Hearing their stories of taking chances, navigating fear and gathering community has me smiling from ear to ear. This story, in particular, from a wall in Denver last weekend, grabbed my heart strings.

11-year old Jen struggles with kids being mean to her at school, so she wants to live in a world where everyone is kind to each other. When reflecting on how she would create this world, she realized that she can take control of how she shows up in the world by first being kind herself.

This has been my experience.

Long week, filled with classes and internships have me spent. With only one year left in Grad School I am feeling excited I find myself feeling very grateful these days, particularly for cloudy weekends when I can recharge and reflect. So far today has been a good day, filled 30 minutes of exercise, pancakes for breakfast, silence, reading (my favorite blogs), and lounging around the fireplace. I hope you're having a wonderful weekend, may you be inspired.

It all started with P-90X Yoga

A couple of years ago, I was trying out the P-90X series with some coworkers at our onsite gym. P-90X is great for variety, especially since the program had some new-to-me work outs. I found myself really enjoying the Yoga DVD. I initially thought it was a "rest" day type of work out, but it turned out to be challenging and relaxing at the same time. I just felt great after the Yoga day. I thought since I enjoyed the DVD so much, I should take a class to really try it out. I signed up for the 45 minute Yoga class at work.

I fell in love.

The teacher is great, because she offers variations for each pose, so you can try different levels. I learned a ton of new challenging poses and saw myself progress quickly. Progress really is a terrific motivator. I surprised myself by becoming able to hold poses that I didn't think I could do. I've been practicing for a year and love Yoga for the following reasons:

1.) It's a great work out. You build strength, flexibility and strong breath control.

2.) It's a great stress reliever. I feel wonderful after Yoga. My mind is calm. Any tight spots where I'm holding stress are loosened.

3.) It's challenging. There are always options to take the pose a step further and make it more difficult. I surprise myself at what I can accomplish in my practice.

4.) It's more than a work out, it's an attitude and state of mind. Yoga promotes positivity, peace and good energy. What's not to love there?

5.) The yoga community is so welcoming, positive and encouraging. It's an honor to practice with others.

6.) It's me time. Yoga is about your own practice. There's no competing with anyone else in the room, but yourself. I like to challenge myself, but know to listen to my body. If a pose isn't feeling right that day, it's OK. Yoga has taught me to let go and just go with the vinyasa flow.

I'm sure I will discover more reasons to love Yoga in the future. For now, I think this is a great start.
