she’s fumbling around in her bag for that book she found in the charity shop - the one half-beaten to death & with the previous owner’s commentary running throughout it in erratically loopy handwriting ( the book that she bought because, for some reason, it reminds her of naomi & she has very much stooped to that level of pathetic ) when someone collides bodily with her. almost immediately, emily finds herself making apologies for something that isn’t her fault ( katie’s voice mocks her in the back of her mind ), & when she realises they’re apologising also, she just shakes her head, casting her gaze downwards to see if she dropped anything. ❛ no, it’s okay, don’t worry about it! ❜ spots a few tarot cards lying haphazardly on the floors ; bends to pick them up with a soft smile. ❛ i think you dropped these. ❜
GRATEFUL JOY CREASES HER mouth as the thick cards are handed back to her, and cinderella presses them to her chest with a little sigh of precious relief. she has so little to call her own that she thinks she might die of sadness if she were ever to lose them. ❝ thank you so much! god, i’m such an idiot. let me buy you a coffee or something. i think i’ve probably given you a bruise or two! ❞
